Not your average work party! Inside Zoe Foster-Blake’s very extravagant Christmas lunch for her Go-To skincare employees
In reflecting upon the extraordinary journey of Zoë Foster Blake, I am utterly captivated by her unwavering resilience and indomitable spirit. A woman who has built an empire through her skincare brand Go-To, penned numerous bestselling books, and navigated the tumultuous waters of business acquisitions and administration, Zoë embodies the epitome of a modern-day phoenix rising from the ashes.
For the holiday season, Zoe Foster-Blake treated her Go-To Skincare team members to a luxurious lunch as part of their Christmas work celebration.
44-year-old entrepreneur shared on her Instagram Stories on Tuesday that she and her team were joyously marking the holiday season with celebrations.
The Go-To founder revealed she had treated her staff to an extravagant lunch at popular Bondi restaurant Sean’s.
She proved she had spared no expense on the occasion, which was complete with personalised horoscope place mats, tarot readings and a four-course meal.
On that memorable occasion, Zoe generously posted numerous photos and clips, clearly sparing no effort when it came to decorating her company for the festive Christmas parties.
For their staff party, the author, who’s wed to comedian Hamish Blake, reserved the entire venue and enjoyed a grand lunch with everyone present.
The meal included four courses, starting off with canapes including zucchini flowers, crudités, liver pate and bread.
Afterwards, the guests enjoyed communal dishes such as Wollemi duck ham, shrimp cocktail, and a tomato salad adorned with Kalamata olives.
After that, they were presented with three choices for the main dish: cavatelli, fish fillet, or roasted chicken, along with two options for dessert: a delightful combination of chocolate and cherries in a trifle or a refreshing tropical pavlova.
At the upscale event, employees had access to various types of alcoholic beverages such as wine and champagne while they mingled.
Furthermore, Zoe made the table setting distinctive by labeling each guest’s place with an individualized placemat that showcased their specific horoscope.
As a die-hard enthusiast, let me share that fortune tellers from Newtown’s Nature’s Energy Day Spa & Bathhouse were present, offering bespoke tarot readings for every team member. I was thrilled to be part of this unique experience!
During our extravagant holiday celebration, everyone participated in a Secret Santa exchange while enjoying a luxurious lunch together.
In an affectionate post on her Instagram Stories, Zoe received a heartfelt sketch featuring her cherished pets, Potato and Jimothy. She expressed her delight by saying the gift was simply wonderful.
Recently, Zoe regained control over her skincare brand, Go-To, following the bankruptcy of beauty company BWX.
She first sold her 51.5 per cent stake of her beauty brand to the ASX listed beauty conglomerate for $89million in 2021.
Two years on, Zoë and Paul Bates, founder of Go-To, regained control over their company by purchasing a majority share for approximately $21.8 million. This acquisition took place in the wake of BWX’s collapse into administration in April 2023.
Pondering back on the challenging period earlier this year, Zoe confessed that she found herself ‘completely overwhelmed’ by the deal due to the lack of a ‘guidebook’ in identifying the ideal investor.
She expressed to the Financial Review, “At what point did you realize it was the appropriate moment? Who or what guided you to recognize your ideal partner? Since there’s no manual for such matters,” she said.
She expressed a strong, nurturing affection for Go-To and took every possible step to rescue the company following the breakdown of the BWX agreement.
Seeing my child in distress really sparks action within me. I found myself thinking, ‘I’m here, and I will safeguard my child no matter what.’ This experience made me feel incredibly motherly, as if it has strengthened me unlike anything else,” she expressed.
It’s hard to imagine leaving the company next year anymore, as I’ve made up my mind to stay for a while longer.
She said she put everything into her decision to buy back her shares to make sure she did the right thing for her brand, admitting: ‘I couldn’t live with myself if I f**ked it.’
Even amidst challenging circumstances, Zoe marked Go-To’s ten-year anniversary this year, and the company has prospered significantly since she regained ownership.
Besides establishing her skincare company, Zoe boasts a rich writing background and has penned over 20 books.
Among her best-selling works are “The False Girlfriend,” “Calm Waters Ahead,” “Divorce Consultant” and “Classic Love Story.
