The renowned architect Sou Fujimoto has unveiled NOT A HOTEL Ishigaki’s latest and grandest villa, named “EARTH.” This remarkable circular structure is nestled on a 10,000-square-meter coastal site at the southeastern tip of Ishigaki Island, Okinawa. The villa reflects Fujimoto’s unique architectural philosophy that blurs the lines between buildings and nature. Spanning around 1,500 square meters, it encompasses indoor living spaces, terraces, a pool, and a water basin, all designed to harmoniously blend with its verdant surroundings. Guests can experience an immersive retreat defined by the interplay of land, sea, and sky.

Located only an 11-minute drive from New Ishigaki Airport, the villa named “EARTH” boasts a bowl-shaped roof and white exterior finished by hand, which gleams under the sunlight and creates a stunning contrast against the deep blues of the ocean. From above, the rooftop garden blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. Inside, the villa comfortably houses up to ten guests across four bedrooms and offers a spacious living-dining area that showcases breathtaking panoramic views. A notable infinity pool harmonizes with the horizon, while the courtyard, designed by Taichi Saito, provides a tranquil haven featuring a kids’ pool and fire pit. Other amenities include a bathroom enclosed in glass, a fully-equipped gym, and a sauna bathed in light refracted from an overhead water basin.

Experience the charm of Ishigaki beyond its stunning architecture, as “EARTH” presents unique, customized adventures that highlight the area’s natural splendor and cultural traditions. Guests can sail on a traditional sabani boat during sunset, dine privately while listening to live sanshin music, or craft their own Awamori liquor at Ikehara Brewery using copper pot distillation. The culinary scene showcases innovative takes on traditional Okinawan cuisine, featuring local specialties like Ishigaki beef, island fish, and fresh produce. A skilled chef is ready to prepare premium BBQ courses and communal meals on the terrace.

Not A Hotel Ishigaki “EARTH” stands out with its captivating layout and intelligent planning, reinventing the concept of a luxury villa. Fujimoto’s design concept seamlessly integrates the property into the island’s landscape, providing guests a tranquil and sensory retreat within an architectural haven. Shares for fractional ownership were quickly snapped up during construction. Guests can swap their allocated nights across the Not A Hotel network. For further details, visit the official website.
