Nongshim RedForce falls short in Honor of Kings Invitational S3 as NOVA takes final

At the HoK Invitational S3, Nongshim RedForce didn’t manage to win the trophy. However, they are still pleased with the advancements they’ve made.

The South Korean team, Nongshim RedForce, came up just short of winning the championship. They were unable to defeat NOVA Esports in the final match of the Honor of Kings Invitational Season 3.

In the Philippines, the third season of The Honor of Kings Invitational saw an intense seven-game series between NOVA Esports from Malaysia-China and South Korea’s Nongshim RedForce. This nail-biting contest was a test of endurance as it reached its maximum potential.

The third season of The Honor of Kings Invitational in the Philippines featured a thrilling seven-game showdown between NOVA Esports (from Malaysia and China) and Nongshim RedForce (South Korea). This closely fought battle stretched to its absolute limit.

Initially, NS won the first match, but NOVA soon caught up with two successive victories, among them a fast 10-minute win in game 3. In response, the South Korean team retaliated with two consecutive wins as well, making it clear that this was going to be an exciting series to watch.

In their current 3-2 disadvantage, with Nongshim holding the upper hand, NOVA Esports faced another setback. Yet, they didn’t waver. They claimed victory in game 6, pushing the series to its deciding match, game 7.

Ultimate Battle – NS vs NOVA

In The Ultimate Battle, the results saw two identical matchups: Augran and Mai Shiranui faced off against each other. This battle turned out to be the second-lengthiest game in the series, with a duration of 18 minutes and 41 seconds. Propelled by their previous victory and their persistent attacking strategy, NOVA managed to secure the series win and lift the trophy at the end.

Nongshim RedForce on HoK Invitational S3 finish: Beyond expectations

In spite of the setbacks and challenging matches, Nongshim RedForce maintained a positive outlook. Bot laner Lee “SIRI” Hoon-min expressed his surprise at his own progression. The team intends to keep growing and improving to become stronger. Even they themselves were surprised that they finished in second place, as it exceeded their initial expectations.

NS defeated all three Filipino teams during their games. The Rough World Era team was eliminated before reaching the playoffs, but managed to win against Elevate in a seven-match series in the quarterfinals. They also pulled off an impressive reverse sweep against Blacklist International.

Coach Jang “YK” Hyung-joon and assistant coach You “Fey” Min-gyu concurred that games like Honor of Kings, and mobile gaming as a whole, are expected to gain increasing popularity in South Korea.
