On Friday, Meg Mathews, former wife of Noel Gallagher, along with her father Stanley Matthews and daughter Anais, attended Oasis’ first London concert in 16 years.
59-year-old columnist and activist disclosed that she was part of the crowd who witnessed the iconic concert – marking the band’s comeback to perform at Wembley Stadium for the first time since their Dig Out Your Soul tour on July 12, 2009.
For the performance, Meg opted for a relaxed style, donning a white and red Adidas bomber jacket striped design. She complemented this with a simple white t-shirt and jeans in the same hue, accessorizing with various gold jewelry pieces.
In one snap, Meg posed with her dad Stanley, and her daughter Anais, who she shared with Noel.
In different Instagram videos, Meg was seen enjoying herself among friends in the crowd and seemed to be absolutely thrilled.
Before the performance, Meg looked back on Oasis’s past London shows, recalling a time when little Anaïs, who was only seven months old at the time, was just as proud of her father then as she is today.
Twenty-five years back, Oasis electrified the stadium with 70,000 enthusiastic fans, and there were Franny and such, Pippy and so on, Lexy Roche managed to get to the very front of the crowd – I’m not sure how we pulled it off.
Preparing for tonight’s event with an audience of 90,000. Time seems to fly, but memories last. Anaïs was only 7 months old then, and now I am so proud to see her grown up. It’s like a full circle, as I was just two years older than “grandma” Anaïs running around back then.
Tonight, I’ll be celebrating the bond of family and friends, a moment to savor deeply. Although I’ll be seated this time, the enthusiasm is as vibrant as ever. Cheers to another 25 years filled with music and cherished moments!
On Friday, the fever of an Oasis reunion in London became a reality as they graced the city with their first performance in over 16 years.
Tonight, the iconic rock and roll group led by the Gallagher brothers Liam and Noel will perform at London’s Wembley Stadium, following a series of hometown concerts in Manchester’s Heaton Park.
Enthusiasts arrived at the location a full 12 hours prior to kick-off, each having shelled out at least £151 for their tickets – yet some splurged over £564 for premium seating.
Last summer in August, the band declared their long-awaited comeback tour, following Noel’s departure in 2009, which took place after a heated altercation backstage during the Rock en Seine festival in Paris.
For the upcoming five events, the team shared detailed door and performance times on their Instagram page, dividing the schedule by the hour. The fun begins as early as 5 PM when the gates open.
The evening gets started at 6pm with the rock band Cast performing, then at 7pm, it’s Richard Ashcroft’s turn as a solo singer.
Oasis will then take the stage for a two-hour set at 8.15pm.
Kicking off on July 4, the Oasis Live ’25 world tour by the group began at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Their performance garnered impressive, five-star reviews from critics at The Guardian, The Telegraph, and The Times.
The team has been leading the UK album rankings, boasting three top-five albums, as stated by the Official Charts Company.
Though enthusiasts looked forward to the gathering, a few became enraged upon discovering that certain tickets in the UK and Ireland increased dramatically from £148 to £355.
In response to the controversy, both the Government and the competition authority in the UK have promised to examine the practice of using flexible or changing prices known as dynamic pricing.
Following their last performance in London on August 3, the band plans to journey northwards to Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium, followed by a show at Dublin’s Croke Park. After these European concerts, they intend to travel to Japan, South Korea, South America, Australia, and North America.
Hailing from Manchester in 1991, this band was primarily driven by its lead guitarist, Noel, and its lead vocalist, Liam, for the span of eighteen years they were a group.
In 1993, the band Oasis joined the independent record label Creation Records. They gained widespread popularity following the release of their first album, Definitely Maybe, which peaked at number one on charts, coming out on August 29, 1994.
Among the songs they achieved success with are Don’t Look Back in Anger, Champagne Supernova, Wonderwall, and Live Forever.
The band’s final studio album, titled “Dig Out Your Soul,” was unveiled in the year 2008, mere months prior to the Paris incident.
