Just as all episodes of season 2 became available on Netflix, Kristen Bell, who stars in the show, shared encouraging news about a potential season 3. The second season of the popular romantic comedy continues to follow the evolving relationship between Joanne, a podcast host who doesn’t believe in a higher power, and Rabbi Noah Roklov.
The second season of Nobody Wants This wraps up with a lot of relationship changes. Joanne and Noah go through a breakup and reconciliation, and Joanne decides she’s serious about converting to Judaism. Meanwhile, Noah’s brother, Sasha, and Esther split up, and Joanne’s sister, Morgan, calls off her engagement to Dr. Andy.
Although Netflix hasn’t officially announced a third season yet, creator Bell revealed to Parade that writing for the next season has already begun. She says the decision to film it is up to those higher up, but confirms the scripts are in development. You can find her full statement below.
The writing team is currently working on the show. We don’t know if it will actually get filmed – that decision is made by people higher up – but the scripts are definitely being written right now.
An update from Bell suggests that Nobody Wants This is likely to get a third season, and that production could move quickly. Usually, shows don’t start planning the next season until it’s officially renewed, but the fact that work is starting early shows how confident the show’s creator, Erin Foster, and her team are that Netflix will pick it up again.
The writers are already working on new episodes, and if the show is renewed, season 3 is expected to follow the pattern of previous releases. Season 1 debuted on September 26, 2024, and season 2 arrived roughly a year later on October 23, 2025, putting season 3 on track for release in fall 2026.
After the first season absolutely crushed it on Netflix, the renewal for season two was announced on October 10th, 2024 – no surprise there! And so far, the reviews for season two are looking really good. If it continues to perform well on the streaming charts, I wouldn’t be shocked if we hear about a season three renewal even faster than before.
Season 3 of Nobody Wants This has a lot of potential, with compelling stories already brewing – like Joanne’s journey with Judaism and Sasha and Esther dealing with their split. Building on the success of Season 2, which featured guest stars like Seth Rogen and Leighton Meester, the show could also introduce even more exciting celebrity appearances next season.
