Warning! This article contains spoilers for Nobody Wants This season 2, including the finale.
Justine Lupe, who plays Morgan in the series Nobody Wants This, has discussed what happened with Morgan’s relationship in the season 2 finale. While the show mainly focuses on the challenges faced by Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Rabbi Noah (Adam Brody) as they navigate a relationship, season 2 also spent a lot of time exploring Morgan’s complicated personal life.
A highlight of the show is the sweet and unusual friendship between Morgan and Noah’s brother, Sasha (Timothy Simons). In the first season of Nobody Wants This, Morgan and Sasha bonded over being the overlooked siblings in their families. By season two, their friendship grows stronger as both navigate messy love lives. Morgan starts relying on Sasha for advice, and Sasha turns to Morgan for support in return.
Lupe recently told The Hollywood Reporter how Morgan views her relationship with Sasha, especially after the events of season 2. According to Lupe, they have a deep connection, but it’s not a romantic one at this time.
The season 2 finale of Nobody Wants This, titled “When Noah Met Joanne,” features a chaotic engagement party for Morgan where everything falls apart. Morgan finally recognizes the problems in her relationship with Dr. Andy, and Sasha’s wife, Esther, tells him she needs time to discover herself outside of their marriage. These breakups bring Morgan and Sasha together as they both deal with being newly single.
Will Morgan and Sasha eventually become a couple? Lupe doesn’t think so, at least not right now. She’s not convinced a romantic relationship would work for them at this point.
The actress shared with The Hollywood Reporter that while she’s unsure what the future holds for these characters, both need time to heal. She doesn’t necessarily hope for a romantic outcome, believing they’ll always have a playful connection. Ultimately, she feels they could be really supportive friends and help each other recover.
Lupe admitted that strong romantic relationships can sometimes grow from close friendships built on understanding and respect. She said, “If they end up together, that makes sense to me.” However, she still believes Morgan and Sasha are better off maintaining their friendship for now.
She recently ended a relationship that moved too quickly and seems emotionally vulnerable right now. She needs time to figure things out and rebuild her confidence. He’s also dealing with a difficult situation, processing a breakup with the mother of his child. So, from my perspective as a viewer, jumping into a new romance right now wouldn’t be a good idea for either of them.
I’m glad they’re enjoying their time together right now, and while things might change in the future, they’re currently just close friends.
This season focused on the recurring issues in Joanne and Noah’s relationship—specifically, whether Joanne would convert to Judaism, and if Noah could accept her decision either way. Amidst this, the unusual but heartwarming friendship between Morgan and Sasha stood out. While Joanne always leaned on Morgan, leading to conflict, she found a different kind of support in Sasha, one free from jealousy or complicated family dynamics.
Relationships are often made more difficult by romance, and it’s uncertain if Sasha and Morgan can maintain their friendship if it were to turn romantic. The writer’s room for season 3 of “Nobody Wants This” is reportedly already working (though Netflix hasn’t officially announced a renewal yet), so viewers may get to see what happens with Sasha and Morgan’s connection, one way or another.
Nobody Wants This season 2 is now streaming in full on Netflix.
