Noah Wyle has spoken publicly for the first time about his colleague Supriya Ganesh leaving the show ‘The Pitt,’ describing it as something that was bound to happen.
The actor, 54, who stars in the medical drama, responded to the cast changes by pointing out that people frequently come and go in hospital emergency rooms.
Ugh, seriously? It’s just going to happen every year with this show, and Taylor Wyle totally said it himself at PaleyFest! He was at this event at The Pitt in LA on Sunday, and he just knew. It’s like, it’s part of the show now, this whole thing… I just get it, you know?
Earlier this month, news came out that Ganesh, who has played Dr. Mohan since the beginning of the popular HBO series, won’t be in season three.
Okay, so he basically admitted it’s so hard to plan this show! He was saying, as someone who writes it, they’re really struggling with how much time can actually pass before it doesn’t make sense for all our favorite characters to still be hanging out together. It’s a delicate balance, you know? He’s worried about keeping the whole group believable as time goes on, and honestly, I totally get it! It’s a huge challenge, but I have faith they’ll figure it out!
‘Emergency rooms have a high revolving door,’ Wyle continued.
We’re always looking for fresh faces or opportunities for existing cast members as we update the show’s lineup and keep the stories interesting.
He continued, saying that Supriya has been an important member of the show from the start, and he’s really enjoyed working with her. They all wish her the best in whatever she does next and will miss having her around.
R. Scott Gemmill, a showrunner of the show, also spoke about Ganesh’s exit at the event.
‘It’s sort of the nature of the show,’ he told the outlet.
The medical field is constantly evolving, with doctors and staff frequently changing locations and roles. We want our show to reflect that reality, so we’ve decided to replace the current cast with new actors.
‘But I think it’s a great launching pad for people,’ he added. ‘And that’s the best we can do.’
Ganesh will be leaving the show after season two, but Ayesha Harris, who plays Dr. Parker Ellis, will become a main cast member starting at the beginning of the next season.
In season two, Ganesh plays Dr. Mohan, a resident doctor. Because of this, her leaving the hospital could be a believable reason for her character’s departure in season three.
In season two, Dr. Mohan faced challenges with the fast-paced environment of the emergency room and the difficult mental health cases he encountered. The season unfolds over a single day, with each episode showing one hour of his shift in almost real time.
According to someone familiar with the situation, Ganesh left the show because of issues with the plot, and not because of reports of bullying.
And just last month, Wyle’s secret turmoil was revealed by the Daily Mail.
It was been said that Wyle has been battling struggles behind-the-scenes.
Reports surfaced that a former colleague accused him of bullying while working on the show ER, and a legal claim alleged his current show closely imitates the one that originally brought him fame.
