Noah Hawley teases Alien: Earth: “There’s a whole other world to it”
As a seasoned gamer and sci-fi enthusiast with over two decades of immersion in the Alien universe, I can confidently say that the upcoming TV series, Alien: Earth, has piqued my interest to the core. With Noah Hawley at the helm, the creator of Fargo, we’re in for a thrilling ride that promises to honor the legacy of the franchise while carving its own niche.
Due to the recent triumph of “Alien: Romulus,” the “Alien” series is currently experiencing a massive revival, and the creator of “Fargo,” Noah Hawley, believes his upcoming TV adaptation “Alien: Earth” will not only meet but surpass the towering legacy left by the films that came before it.
The series “Alien: Earth” is slated to unfold three decades prior to the storyline of the 1979 film. Created by Noah Hawley, this production boasts an impressive ensemble including Timothy Olyphant, Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, and Essie Davis. At this point, specific plot details are sparse, but FX has dropped a teaser for the show. Although it doesn’t reveal much, there is a fleeting glimpse of a Xenomorph. Furthermore, the network officially announces its premiere in 2025. Take a look:
In an interview with Variety during the Emmys, Hawley hinted at his upcoming “Alien” series. He shared that it provides all the elements one would expect from an exceptional “Alien” film, and beyond that, it offers a whole new dimension. While the original movies are essentially survival tales, which work well for two hours, he pointed out that to expand this into 30, 40, or even 50 hours of content, there needs to be a larger, dramatic narrative at play.
Hawley also expressed his thoughts on the concept of introducing a Xenomorph to Earth and its influence on our viewing pleasure. “It’s downright terrifying to consider it roaming among us, but I can’t reveal exactly when or how you’ll witness that, but rest assured, you will – and you’ll be double-checking your locks at night,” he said to Deadline. “For me, the most enjoyable aspect was interacting with the creature, adding my own ideas to its design while still respecting its iconic outline, as that’s sacred.
It seems Hawley was really enjoying himself while bringing his idea of a Xenomorph to life, making it one of the most terrifying versions yet. “I just wanted to experiment a bit to make it as frightening as it needed to be.
Alien: Earth doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s confirmed for sometime in 2025.
