However, it hasn’t quite managed to surpass the legendary status of “Man of Steel” yet. At first sight, the film directed by James Gunn has indeed grossed more domestically, raking in a staggering $316 million compared to Man of Steel’s $291 million. But there’s this tricky factor called inflation, which has been quite significant in the US since “Man of Steel” was released in 2013. Accounting for that, “Superman 2025” still needs to cover some distance before it can claim the top spot among Kryptonian cinematic achievements.

In simple terms, the total earnings from Superman 2025 at the domestic box office currently stand at around $316 million, while Man of Steel made about $291 million. When adjusted for inflation, Man of Steel’s earnings are estimated to be approximately $400 million. Even though Superman 2025 hasn’t surpassed Man of Steel yet, it might do so in the upcoming months once all ticket sales have been tallied.

The international box office earnings, however, tell a different tale. Superman has gathered just $235 million, falling short of the $379 million earned by Man of Steel. This comparison doesn’t account for inflation, which can be challenging to calculate fairly given that various countries have experienced varying rates of inflation over the past 12 years.

In other words, considering the UK as an example, the movie Man of Steel made approximately £46.2 million in total earnings. Adjusted for inflation, this would be around £65 million today. On July 29, Global Box Office announced on Twitter that Man of Steel had sold 36 million tickets domestically, with Superman 2025 currently lagging behind by approximately 10 million tickets. However, it’s important to note that the number of tickets sold can be misleading because it depends heavily on ticket prices, which fluctuate based on the theater chain, location within the country, and various discounts. Furthermore, this figure does not account for streaming services, which have grown significantly in popularity since a decade ago. Nevertheless, it provides a high-level overview of how many people watched each movie in theaters, and in this instance, Man of Steel appears to be more popular.
