No Man’s Sky’s Worlds update changed all my favorite planets

As a seasoned space-faring voyager, I find myself captivated by the latest update for No Man’s Sky – Worlds. With each cosmic leap, my journey through this infinite universe has been nothing short of mesmerizing.

In the vast expanse of No Man’s Sky, there’s room for countless playstyles to thrive. Personally, I find myself drawn to the role of an intrepid explorer and shutterbug. This game offers me the opportunity to embark on expeditions, squash bugs if I so desire, rummage through abandoned space stations for hidden treasures, or even join forces with fellow enthusiasts in a shared role-playing experience. However, my favorite way to engage with No Man’s Sky is by donning the hat of an explorer and photographer. The allure lies in venturing out into the cosmos, grabbing a bite to eat (because space travel can be hungry work!), and wandering across breathtaking planets, capturing their beauty through my lens.

To my astonishment – and sometimes disappointment – the recent update for No Man’s Sky titled “Worlds” has swept across my corner of the galaxy. I’ve ventured through countless systems, marveling at their sights and soaking up the positive energy. Once mundane worlds have been given a new twist, some familiar planets now bear a striking resemblance to a different world, and I find myself once again embracing my role as a space traveler, tourist, and admirer of the cosmic landscapes.

Previously, on my native planet Anxiease, we enjoyed beautiful skies tinted with pink, verdant meadows, and sparkling oceans. The occasional colossal earthworm was also a common sight.

Upon accessing the system following the update, I was surprised to discover a completely transformed landscape. I consider it an enhancement, although I do yearn for the tranquil pink skies, now replaced by undulating fields of glowing grass under the night sky, accompanied by pulsating mushroom lights. It’s both alienating and soothing, offering a visually captivating experience.

Apart from my town called Sporeholm, there’s a unique spot adorned with colossal orange mushrooms scattered across the scenery. The area is shrouded in a pungent green mist, giving it an otherworldly swamp-like feel (depicted below). While not particularly popular among tourists, it has its own quirky appeal. What’s more, the locals craft Welding Soap, a product I can market for substantial gains.

As a devoted fan, I must say that even Sporeholm isn’t exempt from the Worlds update magic! Gone are the familiar mushrooms, replaced now by an array of peculiar, slender tree-like structures adorned with pink bulb lights at their tips.

On clearing away the mist and haze entirely, the landscape seems significantly friendlier during the day. However, upon reaching Sporeholm after dark, the ominous atmosphere of the trees subtly permeates everything.

Exploring previously visited planets to see what’s new is an exciting endeavor, and I’m also enjoying the thrill of uncovering undiscovered worlds. After some diligent search, I stumbled upon a world with numerous small floating islands, which presents fantastic opportunities for a creative base builder like myself.

What makes No Man’s Sky so unique for me is the feeling of exploration – and re-exploration. I’m captivated by the alien landscapes, encountering fearsome creatures and puzzling plant life. I delight in stumbling upon abandoned, overgrown shrines with messages from the vanquished survivors of ancient wars. I get a kick out of partaking in local edibles, spending hours wandering around fascinating planets, snapping photos, and trying to remember the rule of thirds composition.

Hello Games has made it clear that what we’re experiencing now is only the initial phase of the Worlds update, implying there will be more updates coming down the line. I’m making an effort not to grow too attached to any single planet, as it could change with a future update. However, I’m excited about new planets emerging in mapped galaxies and old planets undergoing transformations. I’m here primarily for tranquility, relaxation, and taking in the beautiful sights.
