No Man’s Sky Worlds Part II Update Adds Trillions of New Planets and Billions of New Star Systems

Today, Hello Games has unveiled the Worlds Part II expansion for the game No Man’s Sky, as a continuation from the Worlds Part I (5.0) update released in July of last year. The previous update brought numerous new systems into play, and this latest one seems to be even more substantial.

In Worlds Part II (5.50), an update for No Man’s Sky, approximately “billions” of new star systems and a staggering “trillions” of new planets are introduced. As stated by Sean Murray, the founder of Hello Games on the PlayStation Blog, this expansion enables us to further explore and test the limits of our engine and technology, all while preserving the elements that players cherish about the game.

There’s no need for you to fret over the potential loss of your cherished home planet base. Instead, there are countless other planets to discover, offering an unprecedented diversity that has never been witnessed before. Fresh landscapes, diverse ecosystems, exotic plants, and unique wildlife are waiting to be explored, including towering mountains yet unclimbed, deep oceans that plunge kilometers below the surface, and colossal canyons and caverns of a scale never seen before.

Additionally, you’ll encounter colossal Gas Giants – worlds that are ten times larger than any planet previously discovered in No Man’s Sky, necessitating advanced technology for exploration. New challenges also await you, such as gas tempests, extreme underwater pressure, and various abnormalities. Furthermore, the water gameplay has been enhanced with refinements to The Nautilus submarine, as well as upgrades to fishing and deep-sea diving systems.

The lighting system in the game has undergone a significant overhaul, resulting in shadows exhibiting greater detail, sunlight and ambient occlusion appearing clearer, and sunrays passing through leaves and metal looking crisp and stunning. Murray points out that this advanced technology is derived from the team’s work on their upcoming fantasy game titled “Light No Fire.

The latest update introduces fresh journeys, enigmas, and narrative threads into the game No Man’s Sky. This update also brings a brand-new expedition and an innovative spacecraft that combines elements of a living ship and a fighter jet. The highly anticipated No Man’s Sky Worlds Update Part II is now live on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms.
