No IndyCar races being shown on Fox Sports 1 in 2025
As a long-time IndyCar fan, I’ve seen my fair share of ups and downs, twists and turns, and thrilling races that have left me on the edge of my seat. The announcement that IndyCar is moving to Fox in 2025 has me more excited than ever!
As an enthusiastic racing fan, I’m thrilled to share that come 2025, IndyCar will no longer be with NBC but will instead team up with Fox under a brand-new multi-year agreement! This exciting move is set to take effect following the expiration of our current media rights deal in the 2024 season. Let’s buckle up and get ready for the adrenaline rush on Fox!
The agreement is estimated to be approximately $25 million per year, representing a nearly 25% rise compared to the $20 million yearly payment made by NBC. However, there are speculations that NBC proposed a higher amount for the series in order to maintain its role as the exclusive broadcaster, offering more than Fox did.
One significant factor that influenced IndyCar’s decision to partner with Fox was their ability to broadcast all 17 races on regular, over-the-air TV networks, which NBC didn’t provide.
All 17 IndyCar races set to be shown on Fox in 2025
17 races from the 2025 schedule, along with extended qualifying sessions for both days of the 109th Indy 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, will air on Fox rather than Fox Sports 1.
In contrast to its past arrangement with NBC where races were divided between NBC and USA Network, this setup is quite different. Most of the races in the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series broadcast schedule on Fox will air on Fox Sports 1 instead of Fox, while a majority of the races during NBC’s time slot are planned to be shown on USA rather than NBC.
IndyCar will soon be the sole top-tier motor racing league in North America, with every race being aired live on traditional TV networks.
Changes may occur due to weather issues or unexpected events, requiring last-minute modifications. Therefore, it’s advisable for fans to get acquainted with accessing Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, and the Fox Sports App in advance, to stay ready.
Regardless of their direct involvement in the races, these networks will still be incorporated into the 2025 schedule. All practice and qualifying sessions are scheduled for live broadcast on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2. This includes both days of Indy 500 qualifying, with Fox set to take over during the late hours of both days.
During the NBC deal, these sessions could only be streamed on Peacock, meaning fans had to subscribe at a premium level to catch them live.
The Indy NXT series, which is just below the NTT IndyCar Series, will soon find its new broadcasting homes in Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2.
The IndyCar on Fox broadcast team has not yet been announced for 2025.
The 2025 IndyCar racing series will kick off on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida, starting from March 2nd (Sunday). Coverage for this event will be broadcasted live by Fox, commencing at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
