No Good Deed season 2 doesn’t look likely after definitive ending
As a seasoned gamer of life, having navigated through countless twists and turns of narratives both virtual and real, I can confidently say that “No Good Deed” is a rollercoaster ride worth taking. The show’s creator, Liz Feldman, has once again proven her knack for weaving a dark comedy that keeps you guessing until the very end.
Just as the year 2024 was about to end, Netflix managed to slip in a new comedy series at the very last moment, and it’s quite impressive. Created by Liz Feldman, who is known for Dead to Me, this dark comedy titled No Good Deed premiered on December 12. The series stars Emmy Award winners Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano.
Kudrow and Romano portray Lydia and Paul Morgan, a married couple trying to let go of their family house, which has been their home for three years following a life-altering event. As they endeavor to sell this cherished yet stained property, they cross paths with three potential buyers and an unwelcome return from Paul’s brother Mikey (played by Denis Leary).
This acclaimed dark comedy, featuring an illustrious cast including Linda Cardellini, Owen Wilson, Abbi Jacobson, Poppy Liu, O-T Fagbenle, and Teyonah Parris, delivers a powerful impact as it unravels the mysteries surrounding the Morgan household. However, the show seems to be self-contained and doesn’t appear to require another season to complete its story.
WARNING: Major spoilers ahead from the No Good Deed finale!
No Good Deed doesn’t need a second season
So far, Netflix hasn’t given any signs that they plan to produce more seasons of “No Good Deed” beyond the first one. While it’s not officially classified as a “limited series,” which typically implies future seasons might be in the works, the way the eight episodes concluded gives off a strong vibe that it could be a limited series.
At the conclusion of the series, “No Good Deed” neatly concludes every plotline by addressing the primary mystery posed: The truth behind the events at the Morgan house and the identity of Jacob’s killer is finally unveiled. With these mysteries resolved and the Morgan family’s story brought to a satisfying conclusion, there’s no hint that Lydia and Paul’s real estate struggles will persist into a hypothetical second season.

The final scene unveils that Emily wasn’t the one who fatally shot her brother, contrary to Lydia and Paul’s belief for three years. They mistakenly assumed their daughter was responsible for firing the deadly shot that took their son’s life. In an attempt to shield Emily from knowing the truth about what transpired, they concealed the crime. However, upon finding a second bullet and Leslie’s persistent interference (played by Abbi Jacobson), it is revealed that Margo was the one who killed Jacob instead.
Margo, who is married to struggling actor JD Campbell (Owen Wilson), portrayed by Linda Cardellini, was involved in an affair with Lydia and Paul’s teenage son. Additionally, Jacob, not just anyone but their son, was found to be stealing valuable items. This situation led Margo to shoot and kill Jacob, fearing he would reveal their secret relationship and the truth about their affair.
After Emily discovers she wasn’t responsible for her brother’s demise and the Morgan family manages to move past the pain of the last three years (which culminated in selling their home), they begin to mend their familial bonds. There are no more unresolved plot points concerning their tale, as Lydia and Paul remain married, Emily resumes communication with them, and the house has been sold. The story concludes there.
In the final episode of the season, the remaining unresolved issue centers on Dennis (O-T Fagbenle) taking the $5 million from Carla’s (Teyonah Parris) father and claiming it as an advance for his book. They are using this money to construct their ideal home on Margo and JD’s property where a house once stood, but Dennis receives a text from Carla’s father asking for recognition.
If “No Good Deed” comes back for another season, creator Liz Feldman might concoct fresh tales for each set of characters. However, Dennis and Carla seem the most probable pair for the second season. The show could adopt an anthology style, focusing on a new couple’s real estate predicament and the various individuals ensnared in their drama. Nonetheless, there’s no need to revisit this proposition. It’s already been agreed upon! (Sold!)
