Hit isekai-turned-anime series is officially returning this April with a long-awaited new release.
According to publisher MF Bunko J’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, the thirteenth volume of No Game No Life, titled It Appears the Gamer Siblings and Friends Will Take Out the Devil!, will be released in April 2026. This is the first new volume since volume 12, The Gamer Siblings Battle the Devil, was published on February 25, 2023. The official cover, featuring Shiro, is shown below.
No Game No Life Finally Gets New Light Novel Release After 3-Year Wait
The No Game No Life series started in 2012 with the release of its first light novel. The author, Kamiya, then worked with his wife, Mashiro Hiiragi, to create a manga version, which has been published in Monthly Comic Alive since 2013. Unfortunately, only two volumes of the manga are currently available, and Kamiya has mentioned that focusing on the light novels made it difficult to finish the manga volumes quickly.
Even with some delays in making the manga, the original light novel series has continued to sell well, reaching three million copies in print by 2017. In 2014, the animation studio Madhouse created a 12-episode anime series based on the novels. The anime quickly became popular, praised for its captivating animation, distinctive color style, and storyline focused on gaming.
Despite facing criticism for leaning too heavily on fan service, its questionable sibling relationship, and underdeveloped characters and story, the anime gained a dedicated fanbase. While a second season wasn’t made, a movie was released in 2017. The series is still popular with a devoted following and played a significant role in the rise of the isekai genre in the early 2010s.
The story centers on Sora and Shiro, two incredibly skilled but reclusive gamers, who find themselves in Disboard, a world where all conflicts are decided through games, not fighting. They aim to defeat Tet, the God of Games, and plan to achieve this by outsmarting the world’s sixteen different races using their combined intelligence and strategic thinking.
The latest volume, number 12, of the No Game No Life light novel series sees Sora, Shiro, and their friends facing off against Demonia and the Devil as things heat up in the world of Disboard. The volume ends with the group traveling towards the Devil’s Tower, which will likely be the focus of the next installment. Currently, the only information available about volume 13 is its title; no plot details have been released yet.
Good news for fans of No Game No Life! After a three-year delay, the next volume in the light novel series, Vol. 13, is set to be released in April 2026. You can currently watch the anime adaptation on HIDIVE.
