In an unexpected twist, the upcoming live-action adaptation of “The Legend of Zelda” has unveiled its choices for Link and Zelda.
For quite some time now, there’s been a buzz of excitement about the upcoming live-action Legend of Zelda movie that Nintendo first announced years ago. Yet, we were clueless as to who would bring our beloved characters, Zelda and Link, to life on screen. However, Nintendo has finally revealed the talented actors chosen for these iconic roles.
And no, neither of them is Chris Pratt.
Zelda actress and Link actor announced for live-action Zelda movie
Among all video game franchises, The Legend of Zelda is arguably the one that fans are most eagerly waiting to see on screen. This beloved role-playing game series has been a staple since the 1980s, weaving an enchanting tale that extends across centuries and various timelines.

Ever since the news broke about the franchise becoming a film, there’s been plenty of buzz regarding who might take on the roles of the main characters. Actors such as Hunter Schafer, Tom Holland, and others have been suggested, but no official decisions have been made yet.
That is, until now.
Zelda actress and Link actor announced for live-action movie
One approach that Nintendo appears to be taking effectively is preserving unique, less recognized character names in this film. By doing so, it enhances the narrative’s central focus and minimizes potential associations with other popular franchises, allowing viewers to fully immerse themselves in the story without external distractions.
I mean, no one can look at Daniel Radcliffe in a movie without seeing Harry Potter, right?
In the game world of Zelda, it’s Bo-Bragason who’s been chosen by Nintendo to play his part. As for Link, a promising actor named Benjamin Evan Ainsworth has been selected to embody him. Neither of them have made significant waves in Hollywood thus far, but these roles could pave the way for their entire acting careers ahead.

This morning, I, as a passionate gamer, was thrilled to see a tweet from the mastermind behind The Legend of Zelda, Shigeru Miyamoto, commenting on an exciting announcement.
Shigeru Miyamoto announced via Twitter, “This is Miyamoto speaking. Exciting news! For the upcoming live-action movie of The Legend of Zelda, Bo Bragason will portray Zelda, and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play Link. I can’t wait to see these talented actors bring our beloved characters to life on the big screen.
It’s worth noting that both characters appear young in this film, which makes it plausible that the story unfolds during Link and Zelda’s initial years, similar to the beginning of Ocarina of Time. This could also be a strategy employed by Hollywood to establish a series (possibly a trilogy or more) for the franchise, enabling the actors to gradually mature into their roles throughout the films.
Live-action Zelda movie to release in 2027
Excitedly speaking about it, I can’t wait for the time when I’ll be able to catch the live-action Legend of Zelda movie in theaters! As of now, it’s slated for release on May 7, 2027. But keep in mind, this date might shift as we’re still two years away from the big day.
The upcoming film is set to be helmed by Wes Ball, who previously directed the Maze Runner series and the latest installment in the Planet of the Apes saga titled “Kingdom.

There’s no denying that people who love Zelda will have high expectations for this film, so here’s hoping that the filmmakers and Nintendo manage to create a worthy adaptation of the beloved series.
