Nintendo announced a new Direct presentation on January 29, 2026, at 9 am Eastern Time. This presentation will be entirely dedicated to their upcoming game, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. The new game, planned for release in 2026, is a sequel to the popular 3DS title, Tomodachi Life, originally released in 2013.
The game was a massive success for Nintendo, selling seven million copies right away. It’s surprising it’s taken so long for them to create a sequel, and many fans have been asking when a new version would come out.
Release date
Currently, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream doesn’t have a confirmed release date, but rumors suggest it could launch in Spring 2026. We’ll likely find out the official release date during the Nintendo Direct on January 29th.
Nintendo is planning major announcements in the first three months of 2026, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda and the 30th anniversary of Pokémon.

Tomodachi Life is a game where you build a life for little customizable characters called Miis. You place them on an island and watch as they live, make friends, and interact with one another.
You control what happens on the island and you get to see how each character handles your choices.
