Nineties TV icon, 56, looks completely unrecognisable after ditching her legendary character’s trademark dark hair –  23 years after finding fame in breakout role

As a die-hard fan of Lucy Lawless since the glory days of Xena: Warrior Princess, I must say, it’s simply mind-blowing to see her transformation over the years! From the fierce warrior queen with dark tresses to the sophisticated PI Alexa Crowe sporting a red patterned blouse, it’s like watching a chameleon adapt to its surroundings.

In the mid-1990s, a well-known figure from television made a surprising transformation when she graced the screen of New York Live last week, an astonishing 23 years following the global broadcast of her popular TV show.

56-year-old actress Lucy Lawless, previously known for her distinctive appearance, transformed dramatically with long, golden tresses as she delved into discussions about her latest project, titled “My Life Is Murder.”

I am a devoted fan, and I can’t help but admire Lucy Lawless, who gained widespread recognition for her iconic role as Xena: Warrior Princess. Currently, she plays PI Alexa Crowe in a captivating series that has me hooked.

In 2019, I introduced a gripping crime series that revolves around my ex-cop character’s involvement in solving various murder mysteries. Despite leaving the force behind, this character continues to lend a helping hand, keeping their skills sharp and justice served.

Wearing a red, patterned top, New Zealander Lucy bore little resemblance to the Xena: Warrior Princess character, who was on screen between 1995 and 2001, as she opted for a drastic change from the character’s iconic dark hair.

As a connoisseur of all things lifestyle-related, let me share an exciting tidbit with you. Six seasons strong, the captivating television series I’m referring to has amassed a devoted fanbase, often referred to as a cult following. Originally, Xena was merely a recurring character in another legendary show, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, but her charm and strength quickly propelled her into the limelight and cemented her place as an iconic figure in pop culture history.

Lucy was frequently recognized for adorning herself with armor made of metal and long leather boots, as she assumed her role as the renowned warrior.

Regardless of the distinct appearances I portrayed on screen, Lucy asserted during the TV interview that my diverse characters shared numerous commonalities. (First person)

They expressed delight at witnessing a powerful individual facing justice for committing a heinous act. In simpler terms, they seemed to take pleasure in seeing such an individual held accountable.

In reference to her recent role, she mentioned: “I’ve never portrayed a character with my own accent before, which felt quite unusual.”

‘It’s kind of written for me and around me – there’s a lot of me in this.’

Ever since Xena’s epic journey concluded, there wasn’t a day that went by where I didn’t eagerly await the next appearance of my beloved Lucy Lawless on screen. She graced us with her presence as the enigmatic Humanoid Cylon model Number Three D’Anna Biers in Battlestar Galactica, leaving us spellbound with her performances. And just when I thought the excitement couldn’t get any greater, she popped up as the hilarious and endearing Dine Lewis-Swanson in Parks and Recreation – a series that I simply couldn’t get enough of!

She also played Lucretia in Spartacus: Blood and Sand and associated series.

Previously, Lucy spoke out about the life-changing impact of her breakthrough role.

In the initial stages of the show, she disclosed that she received numerous heartfelt letters from fans because her character was admired and idolized by many.

In a past conversation, she mentioned that many individuals had written to her expressing their desire for her to portray the character ‘Xena.’

‘If people choose to make the character you played into a hero of theirs, they can do that.

1. People might express that it provided them the strength to leave an abusive relationship, enabled them to reveal their identity to their parents, or assisted them in quitting drugs and transitioning into a teaching career.

‘I say, ‘well, you did that. I can’t take any credit for it. ‘Congratulations to you.”
