Nine veteran takes ‘massive pay cut’ that threatens his ‘rock star lifestyle’

As an ardent admirer of Richard Wilkins, I must say his life story is nothing short of extraordinary! From his humble beginnings at an abattoir in New Zealand to becoming a household name in Australia for nearly four decades, Richard’s journey has been nothing if not inspiring.

According to reports, it appears that Richard Wilkins may have to endure a significant reduction in salary which could potentially impact his luxurious way of living.

According to news.com.au, the 70-year-old head of entertainment is reportedly earning approximately $200,000 after a significant reduction in salary.

In 2019, it was last reported that Richard was earning approximately $400,000 from his position at Nine. The specifics of his current salary are not available at this time.

It’s been reported that Richard’s team has refuted claims about a reduction in his salary, despite the company’s efforts to lower expenses across the nationwide organization.

Richard shows no signs of retiring in the near future, yet certain sources suggest that Nine might be subtly encouraging him to leave.

According to reports, the celebrity from Today show not only earns a substantial income but also boosts it through additional ventures such as public speaking engagements and various side projects, helping him maintain his lavish lifestyle reminiscent of a rock star.

For close to four decades, Richard has consistently appeared on Channel Nine, starting his career with the network back in 1987 as the inaugural host of Australia’s MTV adaptation.

At present, he holds the position of entertainment editor for the channel and occasionally steps in as a co-host during Weekend Today broadcasts.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel Nine for comment.

The Daily Mail Australia reported on their budding relationship when Channel Nine actor was spotted with Mia, aged 47, at Annika Martyn’s birthday celebration.

At Channel Nine’s Upfronts event in October, I couldn’t help but be captivated when Richard shared some precious details about his blossoming relationship with Mia, offering a glimpse into their story that few have been privy to.

Richard mentioned to Daily Mail Australia that Mia is stunningly beautiful, she’s doing well, she’s incredibly occupied, and she has a lot going on.

Mia is often called upon as a makeup expert by several famous personalities of Sydney, such as Sonia Kruger, and it was through her that she met Richard, presumably.

In addition, Mia frequently collaborates with well-known fitness influencers such as Rachael Finch, Jessica Rowe, and Kate Waterhouse.

Richard has five children to four different mothers. 

At the age of 18, he held a job at a New Zealand slaughterhouse while simultaneously pursuing a teaching degree. His teenage girlfriend, aged 16 at the time, then gave birth to their first-born child, Adam, now 51, who was diagnosed with Down syndrome.

In the course of his life, he also had a daughter named Rebecca, who is 41 years old, as well as a son named Nick, aged 39, from past relationships.

Richard has another son, Christian (age 29), with his former spouse Michelle Burke, and he is also the father of Estella (age 20) from his relationship with fashion designer Collette Dinnigan, who resides in Rome.

Following his separation from Michelle, Richard subsequently dated Nicola Dale; however, reports of their breakup surfaced in January. Since then, he has made their relationship public with Mia.
