Nine News reporter left humiliated as she makes a shocking on-air gaffe: ‘I’m normally a serious journalist’
In an utterly mortifying turn of events, I’ve found myself, your ever-enthusiastic fan, blushing alongside a Channel Nine reporter this week. It seems the poor soul made quite the awkward slip-up on live television.
Nine News Melbourne journalist Lana Murphy took to TikTok on Tuesday to own up to her mistake.
Lana posted a video where she talked about the school vacation activities happening in Melbourne, which appeared harmless at first glance.
The segment was quickly derailed, however, when Lana clearly forgot her script.
It appears that her off-the-cuff comments might require improvement, as she seemed to say things that didn’t make sense.

She mentioned that we’d be provided with a comprehensive rundown of various school holiday activities.
‘Dib-a-dib-a-dib-a-dib-a-doo’ was all Lana could muster before finally getting back on track.
As an overly enthusiastic admirer putting this into my own words, let me share my take on the moment: Back in the studio, it was Brett McLeod who found himself puzzled, struggling to comprehend Lana’s peculiar blunder that had just unfolded on screen.
‘Well, there you go,’ he said.
In a lighthearted and self-deprecating manner, I find myself often admitting that it’s not the first time my genuine self has made an appearance on camera, as I recently captioned one of my clips.
‘I promise I’m normally a serious, professional journalist.’
As a devoted admirer of Lana, I too found humor in the situation and couldn’t resist joining the chorus of appreciation in the comments, commending the reporter for their amusing video clip.
In a comment, one person expressed their genuine admiration by saying, ‘Indeed, this new journalist has become my favorite,’ while another echoed the sentiment with, ‘I’m tearing up; this is fantastic!’

A curious spectator inquired about the consequences of the mistake by asking: ‘1) Didn’t you realize it was a live broadcast, or was there some confusion? 2) How do things unfold afterwards? Is it dismissed as a simple error or does it result in repercussions for you?’
Replying, Lana revealed that her gaffe made it to air due to an editor’s mistake.
‘Not live!’ she said. ‘It was a pre-record for the afternoon news.
Whenever I make a mistake, I usually begin anew. Typically, my editor trims out the flaws and keeps only the best parts. However, on this occasion, he overlooked something and considered the entire piece as the best part.
As a diligent follower, I ought to have learned by now the wisdom of completing tasks in a single attempt, or at least maintaining my composure when errors occur.
It’s not the first time the reporter has committed an embarrassing on-air gaffe.
In the year 2020, Lana had to express regret following her use of an expletive, specifically the F-word, while reporting on the coronavirus outbreak.
The reporter appeared to struggle with her speech before quietly admonishing someone out of sight, saying something along the lines of “I’m having a terrible day.

With the belief that the recording had ceased, Lana started adjusting her hairdo, just as the broadcast resumed showing Alicia Loxley in the studio.
It appears that Lana’s package was pre-recorded, but by mistake, the incorrect video was given out for the broadcast of the final event.
A few days following the blunder, Lana expressed her apologies on Twitter and clarified that she hadn’t lost her job over the mistake since it wasn’t her error to begin with.
‘I regretfully aired the incorrect recording today, but fortunately, I have an understanding supervisor who has allowed me to return on your screens tomorrow.’
‘2020 though, am I right?’
