Nightwing, Superman, and more important comic book news you need to know

As a devoted comic book fan, I’ve been thrilled by the latest developments in the world of DC Comics this week! The announcements about Tom Taylor’s new project, Detective Comics, and the Absolute Universe were certainly exciting. But there were other noteworthy moments that deserve attention.

As a long-time comic book fan, I’m always thrilled by the latest announcements from DC Comics. This week’s news was particularly exciting for me! First off, Tom Taylor’s next project, “Detective Comics,” is sure to be a must-read. But what really grabbed my attention was the introduction of the Absolute Universe. I can’t help but wonder how stories about heroes like Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman without their iconic powers or gadgets will unfold. This new universe promises to challenge our perceptions of these beloved characters.

As a long-time comic book enthusiast and collector, I can tell you that this past week was absolutely buzzing with excitement in the world of comics! But believe me when I say, it wasn’t just about the new releases or the latest story arcs. No, there were other significant developments that flew under the radar but left an indelible mark on the community.

Deadman helped a young Dick Grayson

  • Comic book: Nightwing No. 116
  • Writer: Tom Taylor
  • Artist: Bruno Redondo

The first time Dick Grayson attempted to fly, he unfortunately took a fall. Overwhelmed by the fear that his parents might get hurt during their performances, he begged them to stop. Following this incident, Dick recovered and encountered a new trapeze artist named Boston Brand. Brand expressed admiration for Dick’s parents and encouraged him to carry on their legacy. He assured Dick that he would help him conquer his fear of heights. This man later became known as Deadman. Intrigued by this revelation, Dick approached Deadman in hopes of overcoming his own fear.

Simultaneously, in his villainous attire, Heartless declares to the public that he is Dick Grayson and intends to take a life every hour until the Titans depart. Yet, he extends an invitation for Nightwing to remain. Once Nightwing has left, something intriguing transpires: Bruce Wayne assumes the role of Nightwing, just as Dick once donned the Batman cape.

Deadman’s departure paved the way for Nightwing to step in following his supposed demise, paying homage to Tom Taylor’s “Injustice” tale.

Don’t underestimate Lois Lane

  • Comic book: Superman No. 16
  • Writer: Joshua Williamson
  • Artist: Jamal Campbell

At the Fortress of Solitude, Superman and other heroes take a break. Meanwhile, Jimmy Olson, Lena Luthor, a powerless Silver Banshee, and a memory-lost Lex Luthor head to Supercorp. They believe that being in this location might help restore Lex’s memories, which were lost during the “House of Brainiac” finale. However, their efforts are unsuccessful as Peacemaker shows up to seize technology for Amanda Waller. Fortunately, Lois Lane arrives in her combat armor, ready to engage in a fight.

World War Sea

  • Comic book: Namor No. 1
  • Writer: Jason Aaron
  • Artists: Paul Davidson, Alex Lins

Following his defeat against the surface world and the Avengers, Namor was confined in prison. Despite having the opportunity to break free at any moment, he chose to serve his time in penance. Regretting the harm he inflicted upon the seas, Namor stayed away from the ocean. However, after being informed by Stingray about an underwater conflict, Namor made up his mind to no longer be a mere observer.

It’s unlikely that Namor will regain the throne as king shortly. Instead, it seems more plausible that he will continue to assist the upcoming ruler in becoming a more effective leader than he had been.

Jean Grey’s powers are uncanny

  • Comic book: Phoenix No.1
  • Writer: Stephanie Phillips
  • Artist: Alessandro Miracolo

Jean Grey’s abilities with her powers were astonishingly incredible. Despite wielding the Phoenix Force, it appeared she hadn’t fully tapped into her capabilities. In Stephanie Phillips’ “Phoenix” comic, audiences witness them merge to accomplish feats beyond imagination.

Initially, Jean drew in the last rays of the setting sun. But that was just the beginning. Later on, she managed to contain a black hole. Take a moment to grasp that. Most deities struggle with this power. Jean accomplished it in a single day. Ponder over what she might do next.
