Semidome Inc. has released a free trial version of their classic sci-fi adventure game, Nightgate, on iOS. Called Nightgate: Try Edition, it lets players experience the first 15 levels before offering a one-time purchase to unlock the full game.

This game takes you through a shadowy digital world where you’ll have to dodge enemies and navigate ever-changing environments. While I haven’t tried it myself, the gameplay—which involves skillful movement and avoiding obstacles—and the simple, clear graphics look really enjoyable. It seems like a lot of fun to dodge attacks, evade danger, and uncover hidden rewards.

I especially enjoyed the futuristic interfaces and heads-up displays, which felt like a constantly evolving digital world that changed as I played. Each level was also completely unique, and the game even lets you take pictures of the beautiful environments with an in-game camera.

If you enjoy games with simple but colorful and intricate designs, this one is definitely worth checking out. A big plus is the fantastic 40-minute original soundtrack, and it’s great that there are no ads or extra costs within the game. I’m not sure I’ll purchase it, but I plan on giving it a try.

Nightgate: Try Edition is now available for free download on iOS devices through the App Store. Currently, the game is only available on iOS – the original version hasn’t been released for Android yet.
