Fans can soon watch the revived version of Night Court on Netflix next month. The original sitcom aired on NBC for nine seasons, from 1984 to 1992. While the show returned in 2023, it was unfortunately canceled after three seasons in 2025.
Fans can finally stream all three seasons of the Night Court revival on Netflix in the United States starting February 3rd.
The new Night Court series, created by Reinhold Weege, centers around Judge Abby Stone (Melissa Rauch) as she takes over the night shift at Manhattan Criminal Court – a job her late father, Harry Stone (originally played by Harry Anderson), famously held. Joining her is Dan Fielding (John Larroquette), a public defender who used to be a prosecutor in Harry’s courtroom.
I’m really excited about the new cast they’ve assembled for the Night Court reboot! Alongside Judge Melissa Rauch, we’ll be seeing India de Beaufort, Kapil Talwalkar, Lacretta, Nyambi Nyambi, and the always hilarious Wendie Malick. And it doesn’t stop there – they’ve also got a bunch of familiar faces popping in throughout the season, like Gary Anthony Williams, Pete Holmes, Ryan Hansen, Brent Spiner, Dimiter Marinov, Kurt Fuller, Richard Kind, Kate Micucci, Julia Duffy, Ray Abruzzo, and even more! It’s shaping up to be a pretty fantastic group.
The first season of the revived Night Court was generally well-received by critics, earning a 74% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Reviewers praised the show for successfully recreating the spirit of the original series, making it enjoyable for longtime fans. While it compares favorably to other modern comedies, some felt its classic sitcom format might seem a bit old-fashioned to new audiences.
Despite attempts to bring it back, the Night Court revival didn’t resonate with viewers, earning an average score of just 47% over its first two seasons. While it began promisingly, viewership steadily decreased, likely because the initial excitement based on nostalgia faded quickly.
After NBC canceled the Night Court revival in May 2025, Warner Bros. Television started looking for another network or streaming service to pick it up. Now that it’s on Netflix – where it’s expected to do well – there’s a possibility Netflix could save the show from cancellation and order more seasons, similar to what they’ve done with series like Arrested Development and Manifest.
