Nigella Lawson signs up for Greggs Christmas advert – but the Domestic Goddess ‘WON’T endorse their famous sausage rolls’
As a lifestyle expert with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the collaboration between Nigella Lawson and Greggs bakery is a stroke of genius. This pairing may seem like an unlikely match at first glance, but upon closer inspection, it’s clear that these two culinary powerhouses share a common thread: they both know how to satisfy our taste buds in the most delicious ways possible.
It was revealed last week that Nigella Lawson has signed up to be the face of Greggs bakery this Christmas.
Although the celebrity known as the Domestic Goddess, aged 64, consented to appear in a commercial for the brand, it’s said that she won’t actually endorse their well-known sausage rolls.
64-year-old TV chef is set to endorse the high street bakery chain’s holiday flatbread and Christmas lunch baguette, however, she won’t be associated with their flaky pastries for the festive season.
According to a source, Nigella initially wasn’t enthusiastic about endorsing their sausage rolls, but ultimately decided to participate merely to promote their holiday products.
In addition to her Christmas lunch baguette and holiday-themed flatbread, Nigella is showcasing a unique chocolate doughnut.
Although the sausage roll incident caused some tension, Greggs is thrilled to welcome such a renowned culinary expert as part of their team.
TopMob have contacted Nigella’s representatives for comment.
Last week, Nigella was spotted exiting an upscale residence in West London, carrying a bag full of treats from Greggs, while shooting a holiday commercial in the picturesque area of Ealing.
An unconventional choice perhaps, yet there are whispers that the celebrity stands to earn a substantial six-figure amount by infusing her distinctive, alluring charm into the business’s holiday-themed offerings.
In her dark woolen coat dotted with snow, Nigella stood on the porch of the suburban home adorned with twinkling fairy lights for the advertisements.
On the table, arranged for display, were a variety of Greggs’ holiday-themed beverages such as orange hot chocolates and salted caramel lattes, along with festive chicken, sage, and onion pastries, and Christmas lunch-flavored baguettes.
People eagerly await the holiday menu from the bakery each year. Their mince pies are already available, but they haven’t specified when their seasonal pastries will go on sale yet.
This year, the items might fly off the shelves since Nigella’s stellar reputation tends to drive up sales.
2006 saw a significant increase in sales at Waitrose and Tesco when she endorsed goose fat for the ideal roast potato, and prune sales at Waitrose skyrocketed by 30% following her recipe incorporation on Nigella’s Christmas Kitchen.
It might seem that Nigella and Greggs don’t share many similarities at first glance, but they actually do when it comes to culinary acclaim. This year, Greggs claimed the top spot in a poll as the most beloved fast-food chain in the UK. Its iconic sausage roll was the standout favorite.
Nigella also has a popular sausage roll recipe, which includes chestnuts, nutmeg and dried sage.
Since the release of her first culinary bestseller, “How To Eat,” in 1998, she has authored eleven more such books that have been highly successful. Additionally, she boasts a variety of popular television programs under her belt, one of which is “Nigella’s Christmas Kitchen.
Her comments about food and household chores frequently capture the spotlight – she’s never been known to iron, she openly favors chocolate cake over Christmas cake, and she once garnered laughter for intentionally mispronouncing ‘microwave’ as ‘meecrowahvay’.
Lately, she sparked national controversy by confessing her preference for consuming food in bed, whether it’s something she can eat with her fingers or a spoon.
Whether that will extend to Greggs sausage rolls this Christmas is anyone’s guess.
