Nicole Scherzinger’s Mic Snatch Chaos with Jahmene Douglas Goes Viral 13 Years Later

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I can’t help but reminisce about one of the most memorable moments from The X Factor that has recently resurfaced and caused a stir on social media platforms, 13 years since it initially tickled our collective funny bones.

In 2012, Jahméne Douglas was among the contenders vying for a substantial recording deal, and during the glitzy finale, he had the opportunity to share the stage with his mentor, Nicole Scherzinger.

The performance of Nicole and Jahemene singing Whitney Houston’s Greatest Love didn’t quite follow the intended setup, as Nicole’s microphone malfunctioned when she stepped on stage, leading them to share a single microphone instead.

In the heat of the moment, I discovered my mic was faulty. I swiftly made my way to Jahmene, grabbed his mic instead, and continued with our harmony. Later on, we both took turns using that very microphone to see our duet through to the end.

Despite displaying signs of annoyance, they persisted and executed the emotional ballad flawlessly.

Even though they sang the tune flawlessly, Nicole appeared displeased following the technical mishap.

Dermot O’Leary stated, “This is our largest show in the U.K., yet we don’t have enough functioning microphones for it? That’s what a live performance is supposed to be!

Nevertheless, Nicole wasn’t particularly thrilled, remarking: “It’s disappointing when the microphone isn’t working, but sharing the stage with my little angel is why I’m here.

The video was reshared on Facebook by the meme page Love Of Huns, titled as: “Always remember the commotion caused by Nicole Scherzinger grabbing Jahmene’s microphone during the 2012 X Factor finale.

Jahmene reached the final of X Factor, but ended up as the first runner-up, following the victory of James Arthur. Initially, he secured a recording contract with Sony Music, but subsequently switched to the independent label Moonshot Music, where he put out his last album in 2016.

Recently, he’s been posting videos of his performances on Instagram, but the latest video dates back to the year 2022.

Looking back to 2017, I, as a lifestyle expert, shared my reflections on my participation in The X Factor back in 2012. During that time, I expressed my concerns about the ITV talent show not providing adequate support throughout the competition and post-competition phase.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always been open about my personal struggles, much like this renowned singer who bravely shares his ongoing journey with depression. He’s made it clear that the show failed to provide adequate emotional support for the contestants as they were thrust into the limelight, an experience that can be overwhelming and challenging for many.

To The Sun, Jahmene asserted that none of his fellow contestants received adequate attention or support during their journey into fame.

I eagerly shared with the press: “If you haven’t joined forces with Syco, the show simply lacks substance and purpose for you beyond it.

From hiding under the umbrella of witness protection to facing the scrutiny of 15 million viewers every week, it’s a stark contrast with no counselor or confidant present, only the expectation that one can handle it all by themselves.

It seems important to have a conversation about the mental well-being of contestants post their appearance on the show.

A representative from X Factor emphasized to TopMob that the well-being of X Factor competitors is paramount to the program. They offer assistance and even psychological help whenever necessary during the entire competition.
