Lucia Hawley is making a major move. 

A 27-year-old reporter, the offspring of television host Antonia Kidman and the cousin of renowned actress Nicole Kidman, is relocating to London in pursuit of her aspirations within journalism.

Lucia, following in her mother’s professional path within the media industry, aspires to secure a position in London.

As a connoisseur of the arts, I find myself drawn to the creative world of writing. Since my 10th birthday, I have diligently maintained a journal as a means to hone my craft and express my thoughts. Despite the cut-throat competition in London’s media landscape, I am eager for the opportunities that lie ahead. When asked about my aspirations by The Daily Telegraph, I shared this very sentiment.

‘So hopefully I’ll land a job in media over there either writing or in broadcast.

I’ve begun reaching out via cold emails to some editors, and surprisingly, a few of them have replied back, which is fantastic!

I can hardly contain my enthusiasm! Being a smidgen nearer to my dear auntie and cousins feels like a heaven-sent blessing, offering me a genuine sense of comfort.

Now, Lucia’s aunt Nicole, living in Nashville, will be reachable by a significantly shorter flight since Lucia has moved from Australia.

Lucia, accompanied by her partner Henry Poole, has expressed that she’s been consistently drawn to the city of London throughout her life.

The aspiring journalist has previously made it clear that she refuses to be called a ‘nepo baby’. 

In response to being questioned about potentially benefiting from family connections in her chosen field in 2023, Lucia stated to the Sunday Telegraph, “No, I’ve been self-driven towards achieving this.

As a die-hard enthusiast, I can’t help but shed light on the intriguing concept known as the ‘nepo baby’. This term, a compact version of ‘nepotism baby’, refers to an individual who ascends to fame or receives opportunities, often effortlessly, through the powerful influence of their family ties, particularly when that family includes a well-known figure.

As I moved on from my role as a presenter, it was the sincere messages from my coworkers – who are also dear friends of mine – that touched me the most, she went on to say.

In my personal experience, I’ve found that the connections I’ve made have surpassed the thrill of meeting celebrities, attending VIP events, or even viral interviews like Austin Butler’s (which many may recognize). To be honest, the work that has resonated most deeply and authentically for me has been my writing.

‘While I’m not claiming my writing is critically significant or transformative for everyone, it is undeniably the aspect that brings me the greatest satisfaction.’

On Tuesdays post, Lucia concluded by unveiling a fresh, journalistic-themed series for her blog titled “I Want Her Job.” This upcoming feature will involve interviews with accomplished and renowned women.

In light of her awareness that her family’s substantial wealth, renown, and likely beneficial professional relationships have contributed to her career, Lucia pens a reflection expressing that it’s a privilege to pursue one’s passion as a profession.

Lucia started her TV career after studying Arts at the elite University of Sydney.

After earning my degree and interning at Vogue Australia, I embarked on a career journey by joining a production company as an assistant. Subsequently, I took the plunge and pursued employment opportunities with 9Honey – Channel Nine’s dedicated women’s platform.

She eventually landed a role with NBC Universal – who launched 7Bravo in 2022.
