Recent news of Nicole Kidman’s divorce after 19 years has brought back some touching words she shared about her husband, Keith Urban. She previously described him as her ‘crush,’ and those comments are now resurfacing, highlighting the heartbreak surrounding the split.
Since news of their split became public this week, the couple has been the focus of much media attention, and there’s been a lot of guessing about the reasons behind it.
However, Nicole, who is 58, didn’t want her marriage to end and always envisioned spending her later years with Keith, 57.
Back in 2009, Access Hollywood quoted Nicole as saying: ‘My biggest wish is to experience lifelong love. I envision myself as an elderly woman, still married to Keith, and fondly remembering what a wonderful life we shared together.’
In a 2017 interview with Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show, Nicole shared a story about her early feelings for Keith Urban. She said, ‘I was really into Keith, but he didn’t seem to feel the same way. He didn’t even call me for four months!‘
Nicole officially started the process of ending her marriage on Tuesday. She stated that she and her husband had irreconcilable differences, meaning they couldn’t resolve their issues.

The Academy Award winner and the musician haven’t been able to spend much time together recently because of their busy schedules with filming and touring.
Someone close to the situation previously shared with the Daily Mail that Kidman was completely surprised by the breakup – however, it now seems she was actually the one who ultimately ended things. She was initially thought to be caught off guard, but it appears she made the final decision that led to the split.
The former couple share daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
Nicole Kidman was married to Tom Cruise, 63, for 11 years, from 1990 until 2001. During their marriage, they adopted two children: Isabella, who is now 32, and Connor, 30.
As someone who’s followed Nicole Kidman’s story for a long time, I’ve heard from people close to her that even the *idea* of her ex-husband being with someone else after their split has been incredibly tough for her to deal with. It’s been a really difficult time, and it’s understandable that just the suggestion of it has been hard to process. It’s heartbreaking to see, honestly, and those around her have been saying it’s been a real struggle for her to come to terms with. Sources say she’s been deeply affected.
The Australian actress and her husband, Keith Urban, were last seen together in public in June. They were photographed at a FIFA World Cup match in Nashville, Tennessee.
The country singer has been touring extensively throughout the year with his High and Alive World Tour. He’s scheduled to perform in Hershey, Pennsylvania on Thursday.
Kidman and the children have remained in Nashville, where the couple own a $4million compound.

In July, Urban suggested there were problems in his marriage when he unexpectedly ended a radio interview after being asked a suggestive question about Kidman’s intimate scenes in the films Babygirl and A Family Affair.
While discussing her Netflix show The Perfect Couple last September, Kidman shared her belief that a truly perfect marriage doesn’t exist.
‘There’s no perfect anything,’ she said, ‘anything that’s presented as perfect… forget it.’
Earlier that year, Kidman said she was ‘so lucky’ to have met the singer.
‘I’m so lucky that I have Keith who’s just my love, my deep, deep love,’ she told People magazine.
I feel very fortunate to have Keith… he allows me the freedom to pursue my goals, knowing I always have a place to return to,” she continued.
The announcement of their separation follows shortly after Kidman celebrated almost 20 years of marriage with Urban, posting a touching message to the country singer on their 19th anniversary.
To celebrate, the Big Little Lies star shared a sweet black and white photo of the couple enjoying a peaceful moment behind the scenes at one of his performances.
The image shows the Academy Award-winning actress with her arm affectionately around her husband, while he holds her hand.

The happy couple both closed their eyes as Kidman rested her forehead against Urban’s head.
She wrote, ‘Happy Anniversary Baby @KeithUrban,’ as the caption for the post, which quickly gained over 25,023 likes – all within an hour.
Within minutes, the Somebody Like You hitmaker commented a single red heart emoji.
The couple got married in 2006 with a traditional Catholic ceremony held at the Cardinal Cerretti Chapel in Sydney, her hometown.
Kidman and Urban married five years after her split from actor Cruise.
She welcomed Sunday in July 2008 and Faith via surrogate two years later.
