Nicole Kidman announced that filming for Practical Magic 2 is finished. She shared a heartwarming behind-the-scenes video with Sandra Bullock on Saturday.
The two actors previously worked together in the popular 1998 movie, which was adapted from Alice Hoffman’s novel of the same name. The story follows two witch sisters and their magical experiences.
Nicole announced on Instagram that she and Sandra had completed filming their scenes together, after first sharing a preview in July.
The video captures the two celebrities happily embracing and laughing while playfully skipping through a field as the sun sets.
The song included a piece of “Crystal,” a re-recording by Stevie Nicks of a track originally from the Buckingham Nicks album and used in the 1998 film’s soundtrack.
Nicole announced on social media that filming for #PracticalMagic2 has finished, expressing her gratitude to the film’s cast and crew.

This news follows a recent announcement about the upcoming supernatural movie sequel, planned for release in 2026. However, one of the film’s lead actors has confirmed she won’t be returning for the next installment.
Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock will once again play sisters Gillian and Sally Owens, who come from a family with a history of witchcraft.
In the first movie from 1998, the two sisters use their abilities to break a curse that causes the men they love to die.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m getting a lot of questions about the second movie! While details are still under wraps, the buzz is that the filmmakers are drawing inspiration from a later book in Alice Hoffman’s ‘Practical Magic’ series. It sounds like they’re going beyond the original story, which is really exciting for fans like me!
Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing will be back in the next movie, once again playing their beloved characters, Aunt Jet and Aunt Fran Owens.
The film features a talented cast, including Lee Pace, known for his role in ‘Bodies Bodies Bodies,’ and Joey King, a popular actress who started her career as a child.
Maisie Williams, known for her role in Game of Thrones, is also joining the cast, along with Xolo Maridueña and Solly McLeod.
Okay, so I was *devastated* to find out Evan Rachel Wood wasn’t coming back for the next season! It was a huge blow, honestly. And she just recently explained it all, basically saying we shouldn’t even *hope* to see her character make an appearance. It’s just… heartbreaking, but at least she was honest about it, I guess.
The actress from Westworld shared on Instagram that she didn’t decide to leave her part as Kylie Owens, Sally Owens’ (Bullock’s) eldest daughter. It wasn’t her choice.

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about this, so I want to set the record straight: I wasn’t asked to be in the next *Practical Magic* movie. I did, however, offer to be involved, even if it was just for a small part – one scene or even just a single line.
She shared that the show is being re-cast and expressed her sadness for the fans. She explained that the decision wasn’t hers and she would have loved to continue working with her co-stars.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always been drawn to stories about families finding their footing, and this film beautifully portrays that. It centers around Kylie, played by Wood, and her sister Antonia, who move in with their incredibly supportive aunts – brilliantly brought to life by Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest – after experiencing the loss of their father. It’s a really touching story about rebuilding and finding strength in unexpected places.
People think he’s been affected by a curse placed on the family of witches – a curse that harms any man the women in the family love.
Kylie’s mother faces difficulties when she starts a new relationship with a man played by Aidan Quinn. Meanwhile, Kidman’s character struggles with an ex-boyfriend who continues to try and control her, even after his death.
Nicole Kidman recently revealed that when she and Sandra Bullock filmed their movie 26 years ago, they were already hoping to make a follow-up someday.
She told Variety that they absolutely considered making a sequel while they were working on the original.
‘We’re so excited. Yes, yes, beyond excited. You heard our spell. We put out our spell already.’
As a huge fan of ‘Practical Magic,’ I was so excited to hear about the sequel! The team behind it – including director Susanne Bier – just announced they’re bringing Sally, Gillian, and the whole Owens family back to the big screen. It’s been 25 years since we first met them in Alice Hoffman’s book and the original movie, and I can’t wait to see what happens next with Joey, Lee, Maisie, Solly, and Xolo joining the cast. It feels like coming home!
Though the production has just kicked off, a release date has already been revealed.
Practical Magic 2 is set to premiere on September 18, 2026.
