Nicole Kidman, Natalie Portman and Serena Williams lead the A-list stars cheering on Simone Biles and the Artistic Gymnastics teams at the women’s Olympics final in Paris

As I delve into the profound narrative of Simone Biles’ life, I am struck by the indomitable spirit that propels her forward. Her journey is not just one of athletic triumph, but also of resilience and survival against all odds.

At the Olympic Games in Paris on Tuesday, Nicole Kidman, Natalie Portman, and Serena Williams were among the notable attendees for the women’s Artistic Gymnastics finals.

1. Star-studded personalities enthusiastically supported Simone Biles, the American gymnast, during the final where she competed with the U.S. team.

57-year-old actress Nicole attended the event on Sunday, accompanied by her two daughters, Sunday Rose (aged 16) and Faith (aged 13). These children are shared with her husband, Keith Urban. On this occasion, Nicole seemed cheerful and in high spirits.

1. On this particular day, the movie star carried a relaxed aura, wearing a blouse with cream-colored layers adorned with ruffles.

Letting her blonde locks fall loose down her shoulders, Nicole also wore a pair of blue jeans.

I, as a devoted fan of tennis legend Serena, 42, couldn’t help but notice her stunning outfit during the recent tournament. She gracefully donned a sleek black mini dress, adorned with short sleeves, that beautifully showcased her long, toned legs. To add a touch of casual elegance to her look, she paired it with vibrant blue trainers.

Styling her locks into loose waves, the tennis star also wore a chunky gold necklace for the day.

67-year-old filmmaker Spike donned an American flag-colored tank top, a coordinating cap, and dark tracksuit pants.

During the final, US gymnast Simone was joined by her loved ones – her husband Jonathan Owens and her grandparents Nelle and Ron.

When Simone was six years old, she was taken in as part of the family by her grandparents, Nellie and Ronald Biles. From that point on, she referred to them affectionately as ‘Mom’ and ‘Dad’.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share my thoughts about the Facebook Watch series, ‘Simone vs. Herself.’ In this captivating show, Simone bravely disclosed a deeply personal truth: her biological mother, Shannon, battled addiction to drugs and alcohol. This heartbreaking struggle led to Simone and her three siblings being placed in foster care at the tender age of three.

1. Simone remembered that her biological mom frequently cycled through jail, and there were times when they didn’t have enough food.

As a lifestyle advisor, I can relate when someone shares their experiences with foster care. While specific details of my own past are hazy, I vividly recall the sense of being taken away from our biological mother and the belief that we would eventually return to her.

Kelvin Clemons, Biles’ biological father, met Shannon when they were teenagers and battled addiction together. In a 2016 interview with the Daily Mail, Shannon shared that she occasionally keeps in touch with Kelvin, despite his being disconnected from their daughter Simone.

Last Sunday, he unexpectedly contacted me. In response, I asked him, “Are you watching Simone’s competition? Are you watching it?” I suggested he get back to me later. It’s known that he’s the father of Simone and takes great pride in her accomplishments.

Biles expressed her thankfulness for having the good fortune to grow up with her siblings, rather than being placed in separate homes. She also showed appreciation for the unwavering love and support from her grandparents.

In her own words, gymnast Simone Biles expressed, “Growing up without my biological mother and being in foster care before being adopted by my grandparents seemed difficult at the time. However, looking back, I believe this experience set me on a more prosperous path in life.” Alternatively, she might have stated, “The challenging journey of living apart from my birth mother and entering foster care prior to being adopted by my grandparents was pivotal for my future success.”

Nellie Biles, Simone’s grandmother, fondly recalled the times spent with Biles and her other siblings, expressing that she often found herself reflecting on the prayers she had offered to strengthen those relationships.

Nellie added, “Expressing your love and concern is important, but it’s just words until one day, you realize that you’d go to great lengths or even sacrifice yourself for these kids. It’s only then that you truly understand what it means to be a mother.”

At her most difficult moments, such as during her meltdown at the Tokyo Olympics, Biles found solid support in her mother’s embrace, strengthening their bond.

In the Netflix documentary ‘Simon Biles Rising,’ the way their relationship stood out was evident when the audience witnessed Nellie’s response to Biles’ decision to withdraw.

After getting a call from her daughter, Nellie reassured, “It’s all right, dear. They’ll manage just fine without you.”

When Biles made her comeback on the global scene, she and her teammates surprisingly did not attend the glitzy opening ceremony and parade of nations. Perplexed fans questioned their absence, and it was Nellie who clarified why Biles’ daughter didn’t participate in the events.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m excited to share that the initial event on my calendar is scheduled for Sunday – it’s the Women’s Qualifier tournament. Given its significance, I plan to take some well-deserved rest leading up to this exciting day.
