Nicole Kidman is already incredibly successful – she’s landed a deal with Chanel, her acting career is booming, and she’s worth an estimated $375 million. So, she doesn’t need to make any bold statements with a ‘revenge dress.’
The black dress with feathers she wore to the Chanel fashion show in Paris on Tuesday stood out, especially considering she wore a much simpler outfit to the same brand’s show three months earlier.
Nicole Kidman, 58, had just announced her divorce from singer Keith Urban after 19 years of marriage.
She prioritized comfort over style when she arrived at the event, wearing a simple outfit of a white shirt and jeans. Her daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15, were with her.
Okay, so everyone says three months is ages in the fashion world, but honestly? For Nicole after her divorce… it felt like a lifetime. Her divorce was just finalized earlier this month, and you could just tell she was ready for a fresh start – a whole new look, a new everything, really. It was like, time for a new dress, a new life, you know?
Kate Moss turned heads at the Saint Laurent menswear show in Paris Tuesday night, sporting a feathered look instead of fur.
The 52-year-old supermodel took off a large, shaggy black coat, revealing a delicate lace-trimmed silk camisole and a sleek leather pencil skirt with a high slit. All the pieces were from the Parisian fashion house’s latest women’s collection.
Kate Moss wasn’t the only star at the event. British model and singer Suki Waterhouse, 34, and actor Jamie Bell, 39, known for Billy Elliot, were also guests of honor, along with his wife, actress Kate Mara, 42.
Nicole Kidman attended the Chanel show at the Grand Palais in Paris, but her daughters weren’t there with her.
She wasn’t alone, though – singer Dua Lipa, also a Chanel ambassador, sat nearby. Dua, 30, wore a bright yellow and black Chanel outfit, including a jacket, pencil skirt, and matching handbag.
Chanel was surrounded by many close friends at the event, including actresses Penelope Cruz, Tilda Swinton, Claire Foy, and Margaret Qualley, along with model Vanessa Paradis.
Everyone gathered to see the first haute couture collection from Matthieu Blazy, the 41-year-old designer who became Chanel’s creative director last year.
Although his first ready-to-wear collection in October was successful, creating haute couture is a much more complex and costly undertaking.
While the 54 looks may have seemed straightforward at first glance, their simplicity was deceptive.
Chanel’s iconic tweed fabrics were reimagined using lightweight silk and chiffon was cleverly used to create the look of feathers. All of these pieces were carefully made by hand by Chanel’s skilled artisans, who are essential to the brand’s legacy as the longest-running haute couture fashion house.
This wasn’t a showy display, but rather a subtle one. Blazy thoughtfully asked his models to have a personal symbol embroidered into their clothes, a gentle nod to the idea that couture represents the height of understated elegance.
It is unconfirmed whether Kidman’s ‘revenge dress’ was embroidered with a secret victory sign.
