It’s officially Halloween week, and the BBC is starting the celebrations by showing the 2001 psychological horror film, The Others. Starring Nicole Kidman and Christopher Eccleston, it’s a spooky movie with a big surprise we won’t give away!
This movie takes place in 1940s Jersey, where a family relocates to the coast during wartime. Their children quickly become convinced the house is haunted. While their deeply religious mother, Grace, believes it’s a hoax, they soon discover something more is going on.
Tonight, you can watch the film on BBC Two at 11pm. If you miss it, it will also be available to watch on demand through BBC iPlayer.

Because of licensing agreements, films are typically only available on iPlayer for 30 days after they first appear on TV, so you’ll need to watch them soon if you’re interested.
You can also watch it now on Studiocanal Presents, a subscription service offered as an add-on to Prime Video and Apple TV.

After the movie came out, Nicole Kidman received Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations for her role as Grace. The film has since become a beloved classic in its genre.
I was so impressed with The Others! TimeOut magazine said it was one of the best films from a major studio this year, and Chris Stuckmann, who I always trust on YouTube, actually gave it an A+ – he thought everything about it was amazing!
According to The Times, this classic ghost story provided Nicole Kidman with one of her most rewarding acting experiences. The film’s director, Alejandro Amenábar, masterfully builds suspense through atmosphere, achieving more impact than many horror movies that rely on gore.

This year, Nicole Kidman starred in the psychological thriller Holland with Matthew Macfadyen and returned for the second season of Nine Perfect Strangers.
Director Alejandro Amenábar—who also wrote the screenplays and composed the music for his films—is known for movies like The Sea Inside, starring Javier Bardem, and Agora, featuring Rachel Weisz and Oscar Isaac. His latest film, The Captive, came out in Spain last month.
The Others is being shown on BBC Two at 11pm tonight.
The latest issue of Living Legends is now available! You can find Ariana & Witches at newsstands or order it online for only £8.99.
