Nicolas Cage’s Son Avoids Prison in Felony Assault Case

Weston Cage, the son of actor Nicolas Cage, has managed to avoid imprisonment, about a year following allegations by his mother, Christina Fulton, that he had violently attacked her outside their apartment building.

On Wednesday morning, the 34-year-old musician received approval for a two-year mental health deferment plan to handle the two felony assault accusations leveled against him.

According to Judge Enrique Monguia in Los Angeles, Mr. Cage was dealing with a genuine mental health issue that significantly contributed to the crimes he was accused of. In essence, it’s clear that he was experiencing a mental collapse during that period.

According to Rolling Stone, Weston’s attorney asked for a diversionary measure, stating that Weston had undergone extensive in-hospital and out-hospital care since the event that took place on April 28, 2024.

During the reported incidents, I found myself under a different medical care provider, and I had recently begun a fresh course of medication. (My lawyer, Michael A. Goldstein, expressed this.)

After his arrest, Goldstein pointed out that his client has been abstaining from alcohol and feels better than he has in years.

Goldstein stated that he’s feeling great mentally, as he’s preparing for his upcoming wedding. He has also relocated from his previous residence and undoubtedly continues to make significant strides in life.

If Weston adheres to his treatment plan, obeys the doctor’s instructions, and avoids getting into any further trouble, the case might be dropped in April 2027.

Fulton voiced her approval for the Weston diversion plan instead of prison, yet she also asked for an additional few months of inpatient care for her son.

Additionally, Fulton shared a vivid account of the evening when she claims she was viciously attacked, resulting in severe injuries that were potentially fatal.

On April 28th, 2024, nothing could have prepared me for the harrowing night when my son came close to ending my life, she testified in court.

Fulton claimed that she hurriedly went to his apartment following a call, as the person on the other end mentioned that it was ablaze.

Upon her arrival, Fulton asserts that Weston was in a state of anger, refusing to take the cheeseburger she had brought for him instead.

Fulton alleged that he ‘snapped’ after a car pulled up and rattled a gate. 

According to Rolling Stone, Fulton stated that her son forcefully pulled her hair, pushed her into an elevator, and then positioned himself above her.

In the reported event, she claimed that he started pinning and restricting her breathing using his entire body mass.

She exclaimed, “He jammed his thumb into the cavity next to my eye, causing indescribable agony. My sight turned dark, and I felt my awareness fading away.

After the elevator door slid open, it’s claimed that Fulton assaulted his closest companion, who, along with Fulton, is also a suspect in the ongoing criminal proceedings.

According to Fulton, it’s reported that Weston forcefully pushed her back against a wall, stood on her neck, and tried to choke her, while his companion frantically tried to free her from his grip.

She asserted that, had it not been for the friend who bravely put himself in harm’s way to rescue me, my family would have mourned my loss, and Weston might have ended up in prison.

Despite frequently expressing her affection towards him, Fulton stated that her son had never shown any signs of remorse or taken responsibility for the alleged occurrence.

As she spoke, Weston was described as looking ‘straight ahead’ and not ‘responding to her words.’ 

In her own words, Fulton stated, ‘I’ve been unfairly criticized for being a loving mother. Now, I humbly ask for just one favor: let him receive the care and support he needs. I implore you to aid my child.’

Beyond mandating my participation in the mental health diversion program, the judge also explicitly stated that I am not permitted to harass my alleged victims or acquire any weapons for the subsequent two years. This directive is something I fully intend to adhere to.

A progress report hearing was set for July. 

As a faithful adherent recounting the events, I was the one who went by the name Weston, who had previously pleaded not guilty. In the scorching summer of 2024, I found myself in the unenviable position of being apprehended on charges of assault with a lethal instrument. Remarkably, I was granted release on a substantial bond amounting to $150,000.

Following his arrest, she issued a statement saying: ‘On April 28th, 2024, at approximately 5:30 PM, I received urgent messages from friends about my son, Weston Cage, who was experiencing a mental crisis. Upon arriving to assist and comfort him, I found him in the throes of an angry outburst. In just a few short minutes, I was viciously attacked and suffered severe injuries.’

In March 2025, Weston announced he was engaged to Jenifer Alexa Canter. 

In the past, he was married to four women: Nikki Williams, Danielle Cage (mother of his sons Lucian and Sorin), and Hila Cage Coppola (mother of his twin daughters, Venice Zohar and Cyress Zara).

Previously, a lawsuit filed by Fulton accusing her former partner, Nicholas Cage, of negligence was dropped last month.

Back in February, I found myself deeply involved in a lawsuit, where I, as a devoted fan, accused Nicolas of something that left me utterly dismayed. You see, he was allegedly enabling their son’s reckless behavior by bailing him out of jail multiple times, providing him with financial support, and worse still, sharing drinks with Weston, fully aware of his struggle with substance abuse. It’s a situation that leaves me feeling troubled and concerned for all parties involved.

She also alleged that Nicolas of failing to help his son receive ‘necessary psychiatric’ help. 

At that point, Nicholas’ legal representative countered Christina Fulton’s accusations with a statement to People, stating: “Christina Fulton’s claims against Nicolas Cage are ridiculous and groundless.

Weston Coppola, who is 34 years old, acts independently and Mr. Cage bears no responsibility or influence over his actions, as he is not linked to the alleged assault of Weston’s mother by any means.
