Many fans are wondering if Nicolas Cage will ever join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it doesn’t seem to be a high priority for him. A recent interview clip highlighted that he hasn’t been actively pursuing such roles for some time. Even though he’s played Marvel characters before – Ghost Rider in two films and Spider-Noir in a Prime Video series – he hasn’t appeared in the MCU. While some believe all actors should consider a Marvel role, Cage stated in a 2023 interview that he doesn’t feel he needs to be part of it, despite fan interest.
During the 2023 Miami Film Festival, Angelique Jackson, a senior entertainment writer for Variety who was leading a discussion with him, playfully urged Nicolas Cage to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. True to form, Cage responded in a characteristically unique way, saying:
“Oh me? Yeah, I guess I’m not in the MCU am I? I don’t need to be in the MCU. I’m Nic Cage!”
A recent clip of Nicolas Cage has sparked renewed discussion about his potential involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and which character he might play. Fans have suggested bringing him back as Ghost Rider, allowing for a more mature and gritty portrayal than his previous films, or as Gambit, a role currently filled by Channing Tatum. However, despite a brief appearance as Superman in the DC film The Flash, Cage doesn’t seem eager to join the MCU anytime soon.
Nicolas Cage Really Does Not Need the MCU

It’s difficult to debate whether Nicolas Cage should join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Considering his prolific career – consistently releasing up to five films a year across various genres – some argue he’s already created his own cinematic universe.
Nicolas Cage began his career with strong critical acclaim. For nearly twenty years after that, his films were a mix of failures and big successes, including popular titles like Con-Air, Face/Off, and National Treasure. More recently, though, Cage has entered a new phase in his career, delivering some of his most acclaimed performances while often taking on unusual and unique roles.
Nicolas Cage consistently shines when playing bizarre and unconventional characters, as seen in films like Pig, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Renfield, and Longlegs. He’s continuing this trend with his upcoming role in Spider-Noir, a new series based on the Marvel comics. Cage will portray a troubled, former superhero from the 1930s, grappling with past traumas as he attempts to reclaim his heroic identity.

I’m seriously excited about what Nicolas Cage has coming up! Apparently, he’s going to play Carlo Gambino, the famous mob boss, in a new movie directed by John Woo – the guy who did Face/Off! And that’s not all, he’s also in an action thriller called The Best Pancakes in the Country – the title alone has me hooked. Plus, he’s taking on the role of John Madden in a biopic for Amazon, which is awesome. Oh, and get this – they’re talking about sequels to Lord of War and even Face/Off! It sounds like he’s going to be super busy, and I can’t wait to see it all!
