Nicolas Cage and his wife Riko Shibata put on a elegant display at the Golden Globes on Sunday.

In a timeless black tuxedo, the Renfield star cut an elegant figure, his statuesque six-foot height casting a striking contrast against his petite spouse, Riko, aged 29.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must say, I felt quite chic donning a graceful taupe lace dress with a sheer skirt and a stylishly short-sleeved black fur jacket.

Standing on her heels, Riko reached up to almost touch Nic’s shoulder level, implying that she would be shorter than his shoulder height if they were both barefoot.

He met Riko during a trip to Japan in 2020. They married in 2021 when he was 57 and she was 26.

She is his fifth wife and they share daughter August Francesca, two. 

Nick Cassavetes, famously known as the star of Con Air, has had multiple marriages. He was married to Patricia Arquette between 1995 and 2001, followed by Lisa Marie Presley from 2002 to 2004. His union with Alice Kim lasted from 2004 until 2016, and he briefly married Erika Koike for four days in 2019.

Besides himself, Cage is a father to two boys as well. One, Weston (aged 34), is shared with his former girlfriend, the actress Christina Fulton. The other, Kal-El (aged 19), comes from his marriage to Kim.

Riko isn’t the youngest among Nic’s spouses; in fact, each of his previous three wives was over twenty years younger than him.

Alice Kim and Erika Koike are significantly younger than Francis Ford Coppola’s nephew, currently being approximately four decades younger.

Riko and Nic got to know each other because their mutual friends made the introduction, and he popped the question to her over a FaceTime call when she was at home in Kyoto, while he was at home in Las Vegas.

At age 60, the Oscar-winning individual is three decades senior to the person hailing from Kyoto. Interestingly, this Kyoto native is just four years younger than their firstborn child, Weston.

In 2021, a heartfelt wedding ceremony took place between Cage and Riko at the Wynn Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas. The special day was selected to pay tribute to the birthday of the deceased groom’s father.

‘It’s true, and we are very happy,’ he told DailyMail.com in a statement about their marriage.

According to a marriage certificate from the state of Nevada, obtained by DailyMail.com, it appears that Riko has adopted Cage as her surname, making her now known as Riko Cage.

The official records indicate that Cage and Riko submitted their marriage license application on Riko’s 26th birthday, which fell on January 10, marking Riko’s first time getting married.

In August of 2021, Cage made public their engagement during a conversation on his brother Marc Coppola’s radio program.

‘I got her a black diamond engagement ring.’

‘Her favorite color is black so she wanted the black gold, and the black diamond.’

‘I customized and personalized it and I actually sent it to her FedEx.’

Previously, Cage talked about the dynamics he has with his three kids from three distinct mothers.

He stated during an interview with The New Yorker that each of them is unique, as each one has its own distinct origin.

He said, “Things didn’t turn out as I initially expected when I fell in love or got married; I never thought I would end up having three children with three different mothers. However, that’s the reality of my situation.

‘Every child is different. There’s a different kind of level of attention,’ he said.
