In the upcoming series titled “Pretty Ugly,” Erica Dunton’s creation (known for writing Ted Lasso), as reported by Deadline, has cast her in a leading role.

In the upcoming drama, Nicola will be joined by actors Jazzy De Lisser and Mary Stuart Masterson. This thought-provoking production will explore the allure of aesthetic standards on social media.

In the small town of Winnabow, North Carolina, the story unfolds around a woman named Raelynn, who is often referred to as Jazzy. This narrative delves into her growing fascination and obsession with the alluring realm of social media.

Mary, her mom, shares a similar obsession with gory true-crime podcasts, and their bond starts to fray as a beauty vlogger named Nicola inserts herself into their world.

The plot takes an ominous twist as a ‘murder mystery centered around characters’ unfurls, revealing how ‘the influence of the internet’ is reshaping America, according to author Erica.

In addition to the main cast, we have Michelle Gomez, Andy Buckley, Cullen Moss, Paul Schneider, Edgar de Santiago, and Angela Wong Carbon joining the new production.

After her directorial debut of Lola last year, Nicola is now back on-screen, having received both positive and negative feedback from both critics and spectators.

On February 9, 2024, the movie she wrote, directed, and acted in was unveiled, initially available for both theater screenings and digital streaming.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but feel deeply connected to the protagonist, who embodies a resilient teenage girl. She tirelessly works multiple jobs to amass enough funds for herself and her little brother, all while living under the same roof as a toxic environment created by their mother.

Despite enduring a string of overused tragic tropes including substance abuse, economic hardship, prostitution, and adolescent parenthood, the movie drew harsh criticism from reviewers.

They contended that the film served as a highly promotional piece for Nicola, and criticized it as “dramatized portrayal of poverty” – a term indicating its use to gain entertainment value and acclaim at the expense of depicting real-life hardships.

Besides the role in “Holidate” with Emma Roberts from 2020, Nicola has also taken on other roles such as those seen in “Welcome to Chippendales” and “Bates Motel.

In the midst of a lingering family dispute between him and his parents and siblings about his romantic involvement with her, Nicola has recently made a new professional decision.

It emerged last week that Brooklyn and Nicola have stopped following their younger brothers, Cruz (age 20) and Romeo (age 22), on Instagram, adding to the ongoing family saga.

On her 14th birthday this past Thursday, there was widespread curiosity about whether he would reach out to her. Well, he did make contact, but it appears that everything isn’t smooth sailing within their circle.

On his birthday, Brooklyn honored Harper, signifying his initial family engagement since he had acknowledged his grandmother Sandra on the 26th of June. Notably, he stayed quiet and avoided attending his father’s 50th birthday celebration, which took place in the same month.

Reports indicate that individuals close to the family have shared their concerns with TopMob, as Brooklyn and his wife Nicola apparently did not stop by Harper’s residence during their visit to London in May, despite being relatively nearby for filming an advertisement for Moncler. This visit took place less than a mile from their family home in Holland Park.
