Nicola Coughlan Supports Derry Girls Co-Star at Big Boys Screening – Fans Are Loving It!
At a Channel 4’s Big Boys series three screening and Q&A in London on Wednesday, Nicola Coughlan beamed with joy as she publicly showed her backing for her Derry Girls co-star, Dylan Llewellyn.
At a recent screening, the 38-year-old Bridgerton actress, looking stunning, was seen embracing Dylan, the actor who plays Jack in the popular show, while clad in an all-black ensemble.
During the glamorous gathering, the duo appeared utterly delighted to reconnect, taking turns to snap photographs with each other.
Simultaneously, Melanie C backed her friend and co-writer of Big Boys, Jack Rooke, whom she had earlier worked with on the track “Viva La Diva.
In a chic, green-cropped blouse that accentuated her well-sculpted waistline, the former Spice Girl posed with a peace symbol, wearing matching black pants and flaunting her toned midriff to the camera.
Jack donned a sharp outfit for the event, complete with a sleek black suit, a crisp white shirt, and a stylish Burberry tie.
2021 will mark the end of a much-loved project known as “Big Boys,” and earlier this month, its creator shared a heartfelt message with their supporters.
2022 brought the release of a side-splitting television show, starting off strong with an initial run of six, 30-minute episodes that instantly earned it a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
In their second run, Big Boys continued to impress both critics and audiences, receiving praises for its witty dialogue and the comedic delivery of the cast.
The show focused on characters Jack (portrayed by Dylan) and Danny (played by Jon Pointing), university students who navigated the highs and lows of college existence.
At Brent University, they developed a cherished bond that defied the odds, and their relationship was highly appreciated for its insightful portrayal of mental health challenges and LGBTQ+ matters in the series.
Before the broadcast of its third and concluding season in February, the comedy’s maker and narrator, Jack, wrote a heartfelt message reflecting on the series’ past and evolution.
He shared: “Around ten years back, I transported an unconventional comedy-theater hour dealing with grief and camaraderie to a damp cavern during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. At that time, I wouldn’t have imagined that it would transform into a lighthearted, endearing TV sitcom about an ordinary bloke and his unlikely friendship with a socially awkward gay man a decade later.
My dear confidante and therapist (who happens to be a close lesbian friend), has proposed an intriguing interpretation: ‘Big Boys’ might unconsciously symbolize my struggle to bid farewell appropriately to specific individuals or chapters of my life. To have the opportunity to provide this series with a fitting finale is truly an honor.
Ever since the initial episode, I’ve been aware of the final outcome, yet I hope it faithfully captures the essence of our early performances in Edinburgh. However, I also anticipate that it will showcase the collective brilliance of our remarkable actors, production staff, and creative minds.
I’ll forever owe them a debt of gratitude for providing me with the most hilarious, joyous years while working on Big Boys 1-3. A big thank you!
Or
I’ll always be grateful to them for offering me the best, funniest, and happiest times during the making of Big Boys 1-3. Thank you so much!
Jack collected a BAFTA for Best Comedy Writer in 2024 following the success of the sitcom.
As the goodbye phase approaches, Jack and Danny, college students, are bracing themselves for even more dramatic ups and downs during their third academic year.
In addition, Big Boys has been keeping tabs on Peggy and Shannon’s adventure, and the upcoming season promises to introduce new romantic entanglements and even tackle the challenges of diaper changes.
In the meantime, the boys might find it challenging to juggle both their social activities like dating and partying, along with approaching due dates for assignments and working on their thesis.
Alongside Jack and Danny, it’s expected they’ll adjust to Louis Walsh leaving The X Factor, a change that strikes them deeply.
Big Boys is available to stream on channel4.com now.
