Nico Parker declares she is a proud nepo baby and ‘reaps the benefits’ but adds she was embarrassed by her famous mum at school
Nico Parker openly shared that she felt ‘ashamed’ when her renowned mother would be recognized during her school years, and she acknowledged that she has benefited significantly from her parents’ success, a situation often referred to as being a ‘nepo baby.’
The twenty-year-old actress is the offspring of the acclaimed BAFTA winner, Thandiwe Newton, and renowned director Ol Parker, recognized for his work on “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that Nico is not the only sibling – he also has an elder sister named Ripley Parker, a renowned author, who is 24 years old and is known for producing the popular Netflix show “Everything Now.
Recently, she concluded her role as Chloe, the nanny to Bridget’s kids, in the novel adaptation “Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy.
In her recent conversation with The Times, Nico expressed that nepotism should be openly recognized and also shared her perspective that it can sometimes be frustrating.

Nico clarified: “I don’t wish to diminish my own achievements or myself, yet it’s essential that I recognize the significant role my parents have played.
I consider myself quite lucky as they’ve both had outstanding careers, and their successes have indirectly benefited me. In the initial stages of my own career, I believe that having well-known parents has opened doors for me, making it easier to enter certain professional settings.
It’s essential for you to recognize it. If you choose not to, what then becomes your position? I completely understand why it’s frustrating.
In her younger years, Nico confessed that she felt ashamed of her mom, often thinking, “Mom, oh my goodness!” upon seeing what she wore.
When she used to pick me up from school, I’d always walk ahead. Reflecting back, it seems she had everything planned out quite perfectly.
Nico’s parents showed her that no one on the set is superior, even though they didn’t disclose the specific guidance they gave her, she kept it to herself.
In her own words, the actress shared this acting tip: ‘I prefer to hold such insights secret – it’s almost as if they belong to both me and anyone who might learn from them.’
As a lifestyle expert, I can share that even though Nico has been gracing the silver screen with remarkable performances in some of the most prominent films lately, there’s an authentic side to her that yearns for a more conventional existence – perhaps as a student immersed in university life alongside her cherished friends.

She mentioned that many of her dearest friends are currently attending university, which is a typical 20-year-old journey one might consider.
‘And when I go visit them part of me wishes this is what I was doing. But I really enjoy working.’
In the upcoming live-action adaptation of the 2010 fantasy adventure movie “How To Train Your Dragon,” Nico has been cast as Astrid, with the film scheduled to hit theaters on June 9th.
Currently, the rising actress has been questioned by Ranvir Singh during an interview on ITV’s Lorraine about how she manages her newfound popularity.
She candidly replied: ‘I don’t feel famous at all!
I’m feeling quite ordinary, and since everyone I know is at university, I often go see them. Remarkably, life seems to be returning to its usual rhythm, even though things have been rather chaotic recently.
