As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share the news that Nick Viall, a beloved Bachelor alumnus, has made a public appearance after hearing about the tragic passing of his fellow contestant, Hailey Merkt. Hailey and I, along with many fans, shared the journey to find love on the show together.
He was spotted shopping at Whole Foods in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
31-year-old Merkt participated in season 21 of The Bachelor, aiming to form a relationship with the 43-year-old television personality from the realm of reality TV.
In simpler terms, Nick, who became a father to daughter River alongside his partner Natalie Joy earlier this year, appeared thoughtful as he strolled through the high-end supermarket car park, dressed casually in a white printed shirt and dark blue jogging pants.
The podcast star carried a bag of groceries and looked down at his phone in one snap.
Multiple former participants on the widely-known ABC dating program paid tribute to Hailey, however, as of now, Nick has not expressed public sympathies towards her – though privately he might have done so.
On Tuesday, it seemed a new post appeared on Merkt’s Instagram after more than two months of silence, suggesting she had passed away after undergoing treatments for Leukemia over several months.
With heavy hearts, we sadly announce that our cherished Hailey has departed from us following a valiant struggle for her life.

Remarkably, her tenacity, courage, and will to live defied every medical expectation set for her. Instead of dwelling on the limitations imposed by the doctors, she opted to spend her last moments among cherished loved ones, finding solace and joy in activities that held deep meaning for her, leaving no room for regrets.”
She is eternally celebrated for her vivaciousness, her ability to make anyone laugh heartily, and her knack for living each moment to the fullest. The text goes on to express that she approached life with a fervor unparalleled by many, and that her radiant soul has left an indelible impact on countless individuals.
Everyone who knew Hailey will deeply feel her absence. Her joyous laughter, abundant love, and spirited nature have made a lasting impression on our hearts. Though we mourn her departure, we find solace in knowing that her spirit continues to live through the lives she impacted. Farewell, Hailey, may you rest in peace.

Dominique Alexis, Merkt’s co-star, penned down, ‘Dear one, I wish you are in a serene and picturesque location. It’s hard for me to think we won’t meet again, but I’ll hold each shared memory dear. Yours truly.’
Hailey had recently received a bone marrow transplant and thought she had a clean bill of health.
After the bone marrow transplant was successful, she was given hope for nine months without a single thought about cancer. Unfortunately, within six weeks, she received devastating news that leukemia cells had returned and were rapidly spreading. This information was shared by Christopher Bennett, who manages Hailey’s GoFundMe page.
