Nick Kyrgios reveals the very racy fashion choice he makes on the tennis court: 'I need to feel it nice and free down there'

As a die-hard tennis fan, it is always fascinating to learn about the quirks and secrets that players harbor. Nick Kyrgios, the fiery Australian tennis star, has recently admitted something quite shocking – he often goes commando under his shorts during professional matches!

On Thursday, Nick Kyrgios revealed an unexpected truth about what lay beneath his tennis shorts during his matches across his illustrious career, as he competed on various sports courts.

The 29-year-old professional Australian tennis player shared on Nova’s Jase & Lauren that it was common for him to go commando while playing in competitive matches, meaning he didn’t usually wear underwear beneath his shorts.

Nick confessed, “I go without underwear while playing tennis! Here’s an interesting tidbit: When I participate in the Grand Slams, imagine me doing exactly that – playing without underwear.

After hearing something unexpected from the Australian Open champion, the surprised hosts asked for confirmation if it was a joke – only to find out that he was indeed speaking sincerely, leaving them speechless once more.

I need to feel it nice and free down there when I got break points.’

Nick has built a reputation as a fiery individual due to his temperamental behavior on the court. This includes receiving a fine of $166,714 for an outburst filled with strong language at the Cincinnati Masters, and even involving Hollywood actor Ben Stiller in a disagreement with a spectator.

It comes after Nick discussed plans to start a family with girlfriend Costeen Hatzi.

In December 2021, the pair publicly confirmed their relationship on Instagram, and two months after that, the winner of Wimbledon announced that Hatzi was the person who helped him shine at his best.

Now he’s getting ready to take their relationship to the next level.

He shared with Daily Mail Australia that he’s reached a point where he desires to establish a permanent home and start a family, which he considers entirely typical of many individuals at this stage of life.

He said, “I’ve been defeated in tennis, I’ve experienced heartbreak in love, and I’ve faced losses everywhere. It seems that one must experience defeat to truly understand its lessons.

‘We have a great relationship. I want to continue to do the right things for us to grow.’

Yet, even though he’s eager to move forward with Hatzi, Kyrgios mentioned that they haven’t made any specific plans this year regarding engagement or starting a family.

In October, it was officially confirmed that Nick would be participating in the World Tennis League event in Abu Dhabi from December 19th to the 22nd.

He will have plenty of time to ready himself for another bid at the Australian Open, a tournament where he has already won the doubles title with compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis in the past.

During his mandatory break from sports, he’s been serving as a commentator. Previously, he expressed his intention to retire early.

He stated that he’s managed to outperform most opponents I’ve faced, reached the finals of a Grand Slam tournament, clinched a doubles championship at a Grand Slam event, collected numerous victories, and earned a substantial income.

What I’m aiming for now is a Grand Slam victory. I believe that would silence any doubters by the end of the day. It serves as my strong driving force.

After confirming his comeback, Kyrgios was also questioned about his future retirement plans, and his answer this time contrasted significantly with his past suggestions of quitting tennis early.

‘I’m far from done, to be honest,’ he said.

As a dedicated devotee, I find myself at the twilight of my journey yet brimming with excitement as I’ve got a couple more years to run. Feeling as fit as a fiddle, I am ready to seize these final moments and make them count!

Nowadays, I’ve been dedicating approximately three hours each day to practicing. My surgically repaired wrist is fully healed, and I feel energized and enthusiastic.

The Aussie insists he is misunderstood.

He stated, ‘Perhaps I was labeled as such due to my unique qualities as a tennis player, deviating slightly from the norm.’

I no longer hold that image in the minds of Australians today, but initially when I started my career, there was a widespread belief that I resembled a murderer.
