Nick Knowles gives a health update as he reveals when the decision will be made if he can continue with Strictly after arm injury
As a seasoned viewer of Strictly Come Dancing, I must say it’s heartening to see the producers showing understanding and flexibility towards Nick Knowles‘ situation. With years of watching contestants grapple with injuries and setbacks, I can attest that the show has always been about perseverance, passion, and camaraderie.
I, a devoted fan, am sharing the latest news from Nick Knowles regarding his ongoing arm injury, which could potentially impact his participation in Strictly Come Dancing on the BBC.
On Sunday, the DIY SOS host, aged 62, sustained an injury to his bicep when he was changing a tire following a car breakdown en route to his own birthday celebration.
After his injury, Nick’s left arm is being supported in a sling as he waits to find out if he can dance this coming Saturday.
On a Wednesday evening, the television personality posted an Instagram video, updating fans that his recuperation is progressing favorably. He mentioned that a definitive choice about his participation in this weekend’s live performance on Saturday would be made shortly.
Nick shared this update with everyone: “Just stepped out from a fantastic training session that I wrapped up by relaxing in a warm bath. It was an excellent day!
‘Shoulder is repairing very well. I saw a great physio today as well, that’s helped enormously.’
I’ll share an update about my dancing plans for the weekend; the decision lies with the producers and my medical team, who will make their call by Thursday.
Nick shared that he has training scheduled for the next day. He mentioned that a decision regarding his participation in the competition on Saturday will be made in the afternoon of the following day, and he’s optimistic about it.
“I’m giving it my all to make it by then. Crossing my fingers for good luck. Hopefully, we’ll meet up this coming Saturday.
On Wednesday earlier today, Nick shared that he was heading to the training studio to connect with partner Luba Mushtuk to explore any possible options for dancing together. Ideally, he hopes to receive approval for their performance.
He shared with his fans in a video that today is quite significant for him. He’s genuinely excited and hoping beyond belief that by Saturday, we’ll discover that he can dance.
Nick posted a video showing his journey to the dance studio and commented: “Hey there! Let me tell you, the past couple of days have been quite intriguing. There’s a lot on my mind, lots of faces I’ve seen. Many are working hard to sort things out for me.
I’m feeling great, though I’m keeping my arm in a sling for safety when it’s not being used. Today, I plan to test my limits by trying to dance and see just how well I can move.
‘Luba is trying to prepare a dance that will work for me. ‘
He added: I’d really like to stay part of the competition, so keep your fingers crossed for me.’
Bosses have prepared alternative strategies in case he needs to step down for this weekend’s performance.
Producers are desperate not to lose their most-profile star from the 20th anniversary series.
Instead of requiring him to leave the competition altogether, they’ve arranged for him to take a break during week three without penalty, allowing him time to recover.
According to a source, the team is eagerly anticipating the medical team’s approval for Nick to participate this weekend, yet they remain committed to keeping him on the show.
‘Viewers love him so much that if he needs some time off for recovery, we’ll happily wait for his return the next week, assuming everything goes smoothly.’
‘If that bothers other contestants, then so be it. The bosses want him back.’
Yesterday, Knowles was receiving care from doctors and physiotherapists in an urgent attempt to remain part of the competition.
On Wednesday, he’ll be back at Strictly rehearsals, and the doctors will then decide if his condition allows him to carry on.
This weekend, the first celebrity contestant will be voted off the dance show.
Following a crisis MRI examination at Harley Street on Monday, Knowles expressed optimism about his ability to carry on with the show on the additional program It Takes Two, stating that he remains “very hopeful” for this possibility.
However, host Janette Manrara informed the audience, “Currently, it’s uncertain whether you’ll have a chance to dance this coming Saturday.
He will perform an American Smooth dance to Parklife by Blur, if everything checks out medically, alongside his professional partner Luba.
Mushtuk playfully suggested they might give Knowles’s sling a sparkling touch, and added that he still maintains an excellent spot on his right arm.
She suggested they focus on refining their ‘flawless step coordination’ for the foxtrot part of the dance, and mentioned they might also manage to execute a lift, acknowledging they could find a way to work with the injury.
Knowles added: ‘Luckily I’m very big, and Luba is very light, so one-arm lifts.’
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday at 6:15pm.
