Nick Knowles responded to criticism about his weight after someone commented on his appearance during last week’s Children in Need broadcast.
TV personality Nick Knowles, age 63, recently appeared on a special episode of DIY SOS to help renovate a building for a charity supporting children with cancer. However, one viewer shared a picture from the show and playfully suggested that Knowles resembled Pudsey, the Children In Need bear, with the joke: ‘Nick Knowles ate Pudsey!’
Nick explained that after someone began harassing his wife, Katie, online while she was recovering from a life-threatening complication after a hysterectomy at age 35, he reported the harasser to their employer.

Okay, so I found out they told my idol’s work about this… about me. It was after they saw I was really invested – like, genuinely moved – by this amazing thing he did, building a place for kids with cancer. And now they’re saying I need therapy? Because I admire him? It’s like, I was already feeling so strongly, and then seeing that selfless act just… solidified everything. They’re calling it an ‘obsession,’ but it feels more like… recognizing a kindred spirit. Seriously, they should be the ones talking to someone!
Nick and his team deeply moved viewers with their latest project: a major renovation for The Joshua Tree, a charity that provides personalized support to children with cancer and their families. It was one of their most difficult builds yet.
The footage highlighted the rapid transformation of the Cheshire headquarters. In just 12 days, the facility was expanded to provide support for more families nationwide.
A photo from the show featured Nick and his crew in purple safety vests, prompting a harsh comment from one of his followers.
Although many people admired the actor’s dedication, he was attacked online by a troll. He responded to the attack, and quickly received support from numerous fans.
He explained the situation with the online troll, claiming she had harassed Katie while Katie was recovering from a hysterectomy in July, following years of dealing with chronic pain.
She had previously shared with her followers that she’d spent much of her life dealing with severe pain, which often caused her to feel sick, stay in bed, and miss out on activities. She recently had a procedure to address this.
A hysterectomy is surgery to remove a woman’s uterus, and sometimes other organs like the ovaries as well.
It was really heartening to see Nick, after dealing with a lot of negativity, ask his incredibly supportive fans to ease up on the person causing trouble. He showed a lot of class by asking everyone to stand down and de-escalate the situation – a true sign of leadership, in my opinion!
After fans defended him online, Nick asked his 168,100 followers to drop the issue.
I really appreciate everyone’s support regarding the harassment my wife and I are receiving, but could we please keep the conversation respectful?
I’ve been thinking about this, and I believe there might be underlying mental health issues involved. With that in mind, I’d like to suggest we drop the matter. Thank you.
Katie and Nick, who is 27 years older than her, got married earlier this year in a grand and expensive wedding at Braxted Park in Essex.
The wedding was lavish, and the guest list included famous faces, like Nick’s fellow dancers from Strictly Come Dancing.
The new couple has unfortunately faced harsh online criticism throughout their relationship, with people making fun of their age gap and how they handle their finances.
Katie, who started dating her husband in 2021, responded to accusations that she’s a ‘gold digger.’ She explained that those claims don’t bother her as much anymore, because she and her husband, Nick, know they aren’t true.
She told TopMob that the age difference bothered people, especially her family, at first. But now, she doesn’t pay attention to those comments because she and her partner know they don’t reflect reality.
Katie explained that both she and Nick work hard and have earned what they own, and they enjoy occasionally buying gifts for each other.
