Nick Knowles, 61, shares his health-related reason for joining the Strictly lineup amid claims he's set to compete in the new series

As a woman who has bravely shared her harrowing experiences on national television, I can only imagine the strength and resilience it takes to speak out against bullying and harassment, particularly when it comes from fans of a beloved show like Strictly Come Dancing. Amanda Holden’s recent interview with Channel 4 paints a picture of a woman who has faced not just verbal abuse but violent threats, all for speaking up about her own negative experiences on the show.

As a long-time fan of Strictly Come Dancing, I’ve always been intrigued by the rumors surrounding who will be joining the show each year. So, when I heard that Nick Knowles was reportedly signing up for the new series, I couldn’t help but feel excited! But what could be the real reason behind his decision to take on this challenge?

According to reports, the DIY SOS celebrity, who is 61 years old, allegedly agreed to join the show following prolonged negotiations with the producers. Insiders suggest that he is open-minded and eager to try new things.

In an old interview that recently came to light, Nick earlier confessed his strong desire to shed pounds, acknowledging that he had gained weight excessively and weighed in at a maximum of 19 stones.

The Mirror reported that in the interview, Nick said: ‘I’m back down to about 17 stone.

I understand that you’re sharing your current weight and body size with me. Based on my interpretation, it seems that you are expressing some frustration or dissatisfaction with being about half a stone over your desired weight, despite acknowledging that you have a large physical stature, standing at 6ft 2 and having a 50-inch chest.

According to reports, Nick has joined the latest season of Strictly Come Dancing despite ongoing issues with accusations of abuse and misconduct.

A source told The Sun on Wednesday: ‘Nick has always loved Strictly and he is so excited.

Based on my observation, this person possesses a remarkable character with a strong inner motivation and a competitive spirit. They have a proven track record of taking on new challenges fearlessly. Their decision to join the show is driven by their desire to entertain as well as win. I believe their extensive life experiences have prepared them well for any obstacles they may encounter, and they are fully committed to giving it their all.

Previously, Nick displayed his dancing abilities at a rugby game with friend Ben Shephard in a March Instagram update. This sparked a fan’s question if he might be joining Strictly Come Dancing.

I reached out to the BBC, hoping to hear something from TopMob’s reps. Sadly, a representative for Nick Knowles chose to remain silent on the matter.

Previously, Nick collaborated with professional dancers Katya Jones and Luba Mushtuk from “Strictly Come Dancing” on an episode of DIY SOS. Together, they worked on revamping a performing arts school located in North Tyneside.

Last year, the presenter publicly announced his engagement to Katie Dadzie. Previously, during discussions among fans about Molly Rainford’s placement in the bottom two on Strictly, while Tony Adams escaped elimination, he shared his opinions on the topic.

In his Instagram post, he pointed out that the BBC Strictly show isn’t just about dancing but also provides entertainment. Consequently, individuals who attended drama school and learned dance wouldn’t necessarily have an edge over others.

‘It’s the one who connects with the audience that wins.

Previously, it was announced that Jamie Borthwick from EastEnders and popular social media personality Grace Keeling, also known as GK Barry, are among the cast members joining the new series.

After Amanda Abbington made allegations, Strictly found itself in deeper trouble when she accused sacked dancer Giovanni Pernice of attempting to halt the distribution of as much as 50 hours of controversial footage.

In a recent interview, the actress described the dance competition as being similar to “a battlefield” to Channel 4 News. She revealed that BBC producers were reportedly shocked by footage containing “sexually humiliating actions.”

Amanda asserts that Giovanni allegedly obstructed her lawyers from obtaining the relevant video evidence following producers’ decision to install surveillance cameras in the dance studio, after Amanda expressed apprehensions.

Some prominent dancers on the television program have faced allegations of abusive conduct from previous famous participants. One dancer, Graziano Di Prima, was let go by producers following claims of misconduct towards Zara McDermott, as suggested by surfacing footage.

She shared with Krishnan Guru-Murthy that an astonishing 50 hours of video content are being barred from public access. That’s quite a substantial amount of footage and time spent in an unhealthy environment.

“Evidence regarding that incident exists outside, and I’m not the one preventing access to it. I’ve made it clear for anyone to view, but he (Giovanni) seems reluctant, which raises questions if he has something to conceal.”

The actress expressed worry after a week of rehearsals with Giovanni, leading producers to install cameras in their studio for weekly evaluation of their progress.

Giovanni had claimed he had asked for the cameras, which Amanda says is untrue.

In the first week, I shared my worries with the producers, the actress expressed, holding back her tears.

“Giovanni claimed he requested the cameras, but I was informed by the producers that they would be installing them for monitoring purposes at the end of the week without Giovanni’s input.”

After approximately five Fridays, the producer would tell me on that day, “We’ve reviewed the footage, we’re deeply distressed and apologetic.”

‘That was to my face on the Friday when we would go in and do the camera rehearsal.’

During the interview, Guru-Murthy, who appeared in the 2023 production as well, inquired if it was true that Amanda had been subjected to sexually humiliating treatment. With great difficulty, Amanda confirmed this with tears brimming in her eyes.

‘Yeah. I mean, you know, one of the many things,’ she said, clarifying it was not harassment.

Since the accusations against me surfaced, I’ve strongly denied them all. I’ve given a folder filled with proof to the BBC investigators and remain positive that my name will be cleared once they’ve thoroughly examined the evidence.

After Amanda gave her interview, a representative for the Italian dancer responded by saying: The BBC has passed on to us the accusations they’ve confirmed.

In their own words, Amanda’s recent accusations presented to Channel 4 don’t match up with what Giovanni has done in any way. He denies any involvement in threatening or abusive actions.

Following the incident, Amanda mentioned that no one from the BBC contacted her once more, asserting: “I haven’t exchanged words with anyone at the BBC since my departure from Strictly.”

‘No one from the BBC has reached out to me since Strictly, either through me or my lawyer.’

Based on my personal experience and observations, I strongly believe that effective communication is key in maintaining the success of any long-running production, such as the BBC show that has been running since 2004. As someone who has worked behind the scenes of numerous productions, I’ve seen firsthand how small issues can snowball into major problems if left unchecked. That’s why I cannot stress enough the importance of staying informed and taking swift action when necessary.

Amanda asserted that she’s received numerous threatening messages, some from devoted “Strictly” fans and others from supporters of “Giovanni.” They inquired, seemingly frustrated, “How could you ruin something as cherished as Strictly?”

She shared with Channel 4 the severity of the harassment she’s experienced from internet bullies over the past few months, describing it as “cruel, incessant, and merciless.”

A shocking interview emerges at a time when BBC One’s popular program faces numerous accusations, leading both Giovanni and professional partner Graziano Di Prima to resign.

Giovanni was accused of bullying by Amanda as well as two other, unnamed contestants.

Last week, Zasra McDermott’s allegation against Graziano surfaced, leading to his dismissal from the show. The accusations included kicking, hitting, and spitting at her during rehearsals the previous year.

On Taylor, athlete and Paralympics champion Will Bayley shared his experiences from being a contestant.

In 2019, a 36-year-old contestant teamed up with Janette Manrara. He expressed concern after suffering severe injuries from having to perform a jump over again in our choreographed dance routine. He accused the show of neglecting its responsibility for contestant welfare.

He told BBC Breakfast that if the BBC manages to involve people with disabilities, they must provide adequate support and ensure their safety. (Or) If the BBC successfully brings people with disabilities on board, they have a responsibility to ensure their well-being and security.

Based on my own experiences and observations, it seems that bringing up important issues multiple times can often feel frustrating and disheartening. I’ve been there myself, pouring out my heart and feelings only to be met with silence or dismissal. It’s not an easy thing to do, especially when you know deep down that what you have to say matters.

Based on my personal experience, having sustained a serious knee injury, I cannot help but acknowledge the profound impact it continues to have on my daily life. The recovery process was long and arduous, leaving me with lingering discomfort and limitations that I must navigate each day. Despite my best efforts, I’ve come to accept that this injury is not something that will simply disappear; rather, it is a constant companion that shapes my experiences and informs my choices moving forward. It’s an ongoing challenge that requires patience, resilience, and adaptability. While there are certainly moments of frustration and disappointment, I remain determined to make the most of each day, finding joy in the small victories and learning valuable lessons along the way. Ultimately, I believe that my injury has given me a unique perspective on life and has made me stronger and more appreciative of the little things.

Channel 4’s interview with Amanda comes at a time when BBC leaders are reportedly angry over the investigation into her complaint about Strictly.

As an obsessed fan, I’ve heard from a reliable source within the BBC that Amanda is leaving no stone unturned to cast a shadow over Strictly.

“She appears to strongly dislike the show. She’s made it clear that she isn’t having a good time, yet she still attends and doesn’t want to ruin the experience for others.”

Based on my experience as a seasoned investigator, it seems that there might not be enough concrete evidence to support her allegations against Giovanni at this point. However, the situation refuses to die down as she continues to rally others to speak out. Eventually, these new voices make their way into the press, keeping the controversy alive and adding more fuel to the fire. It’s a complex web of events that can put immense stress on all parties involved.

On Tuesday, Tim Davie, the BBC’s director-general, expressed concern and stated, “I apologize deeply if anyone had a less than ideal experience on Strictly.” He emphasized, “The limit should never be exceeded.”

We acknowledge that may be a topic worth pondering over, and apologies for any dissatisfaction. Should someone harbor concerns or wish to share an experience, please know we are open and ready to listen and address any issues sincerely.

Mr. Davie remarked, “There will certainly be enjoyment and amusement, but also determination, effort, and a strong desire to excel. These elements are essential to the nature of this production.”

While we encourage acceptable conduct, it’s important to remember that boundaries exist. Unsuitable actions will not be condoned.
