Nick Jonas & Priyanka Chopra’s Met Gala Outfits Spark Memes and Shade

On Monday, Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra made a reappearance at the Met Gala, however, some spectators expressed criticism towards their distinctive ensembles.

The theme for the Met Gala in 2025 was “Superb Tailoring: Elevating Black Style,” drawing inspiration from Monica Miller’s book “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Expression of Black Diasporic Identity” published in 2009. This theme aligns with the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s upcoming exhibition focusing on Black fashion.

Jonas, who is 32 years old, and Chopra, aged 42, both opted for stylish monochrome ensembles on the red carpet, with Jonas wearing a suit by Bianca Saunders and his spouse dressed in Balmain.

On the other hand, viewers found a striking resemblance between Chopra’s appearance and Bette Midler’s wardrobe from the 1988 movie Big Business.

Chopra wore an outfit in white with black polka dots that was reminiscent of what Midler wore in the film; meanwhile, Jonas donned a cream-colored turtleneck and scarf paired with black trousers.

Although some people praised their appearance online, others criticized the couple harshly, even going as far as likening Priyanka to Cruella de Vil and Carmen Sandiego in their comments.

One user named @PhillyHj posted an image showing the Jonas brothers and Bette Midler from the movie ‘Big Business’. They commented, ‘Did Nick Jonas dress up as a preppy rodeo rider? And Priyanka Chopra portrayed Bette Midler’s character from Big Business for the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” event themed around dandyism?’

At the 2025 Met Gala, Nick Jonas discovered a bit of shadow sheltering under Priyanka Chopra’s oversized hat, a detail humorously noted by Harper’s Bazaar in their tweet.

User @consthepsychic commented, ‘Nick Jonas had a disappointing year,’ and user @oobleejay responded with, ‘I just don’t understand Nick Jonas, lol.’

User @TyTroncoso playfully stated, ‘Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra appeared at his former school’s reunion during the Met Gala.’

Other users such as @ohkeilaknows commented, ‘Priyanka’s ensemble somewhat resembles Cruella’s and I find it quite appealing.’

Nevertheless, some Instagram users, such as @factz0ria, showed less enthusiasm with a simple reply of “Okay ummm,” expressing a lack of strong feelings towards the appearance.

A different Instagram user, known as @tractorfan1997, described Priyanka’s appearance as being similar to a blend of Carmen Sandiego and 101 Dalmatians.

Christiane Hackl commented on Instagram, ‘That’s quite a laugh! His height didn’t seem to match hers, given the oversized nature of her hat.’

Jonas has just come back to Broadway, appearing in The Last Five Years alongside Adrienne Warren.
