Nick Cave stuns at sold-out Sydney concert as fans reach for the rock god on triumphant return to the stage

Nick Cave captivated a huge Sydney audience on Friday night, showcasing his signature rock star energy and style at a packed show in The Domain.

The 68-year-old rock icon Nick Cave clearly enjoyed himself as he and his band, The Bad Seeds, kicked off their Wild God tour at The Domain, playing to a crowd of thousands.

He cheekily told the crowd how excited he was to play for ‘f***ing Sydney’

Wearing a sleek black suit and white shirt, Cave made a powerful impression as he walked confidently down a runway that extended into the audience. He held a microphone and reached out to touch hands with people in the crowd.

Photos from that night reveal Cave leaning out over the crowd, his face full of emotion as fans reached for him. Some looked up towards the sky, while others used their phones to record the event.

The gothic rocker joked about finally getting some darkness, as the sun set behind the Sydney skyline. Cranes and city towers stood out as dark shapes against the colorful stage lights shining on him.

The rocker, who hails from Victoria, captivated the audience with a heartfelt performance, bringing a wave of joy through his most moving and powerful songs. Fans were left wanting more.

The concert began with songs from the band’s 2024 album, Wild God. Nick Cave held the microphone tightly, eyes closed and focused, his hair gleaming in the stage lights as he sang each lyric with power and assurance.

‘You’re awesome!’ he told the crowd as cheers thundered back at him.

The stage setup allowed Cave to connect with fans and deliver a deeply moving performance.

He performed his popular songs with his usual energetic and charming flair, captivating the enthusiastic crowd who eagerly demanded an encore.

The band Domain kicked off their tour with energetic and emotional performances on Friday night – a return to the venue where they last played the Homebake festival in 2003. The concert featured songs from the band’s new album, Wild God, as well as many favorites spanning their impressive 40-year history.

Nick Cave celebrated his forty-year music career by performing many of his most beloved songs, like “Tupelo,” “From Her to Eternity,” “Red Right Hand,” and “The Mercy Seat.” The audience responded with enthusiastic cheers throughout the performance.

The crowd was on its feet, clapping, cheering, and reaching for Cave as he walked the runway.

The show truly came alive thanks to his incredibly talented band, especially Warren Ellis, a frequent collaborator, and a powerful gospel choir that took his performance to the next level.

As night fell, Nick Cave played his song “Into My Arms” on the piano, and the audience quietly listened under the glow of the city lights.
