Hollywood is full of talented actors, but Nicolas Cage is truly one of a kind. He always gives his all to every role, whether it’s in a critically acclaimed film or a smaller, independent project, and consistently delivers a memorable performance. In my opinion, he recently gave a particularly outstanding performance that didn’t get the recognition it deserved.
Okay, so I just saw a clip from Gunslingers on TikTok that completely blew me away, and good news – it’s currently on Netflix! If you’re like me and live for those scenes where Nicolas Cage just loses it on screen, you absolutely need to check this movie out. Seriously, stop what you’re doing and add it to your watchlist.

What Is Gunslingers About?
The movie Gunslingers features Stephen Dorff as Thomas, a man fleeing after a shooting in New York City. He finds refuge in a town called Redemption, a haven for people trying to turn their lives around. He’s aided by Ben (Cage), a photographer who stages fake hangings and burials to mislead anyone looking to collect a reward for his capture.
If everything went according to plan in the movie, there wouldn’t be much of a story! Eventually, Thomas has to protect his family when bounty hunters arrive. While it might not be as epic as some classic Westerns, this movie offers something unique that those films don’t.

Why Nic Cage Is Fantastic In Gunslingers
Honestly, the best thing about this movie is Nic Cage’s character, Ben. He made a couple of choices that really grabbed my attention – and I’m guessing anyone else who’s seen Gunslingers noticed them too. The first thing is his sunglasses. They’re these really modern, cross-shaped shades, which just look completely out of place in a Western or a movie set in the early 1900s. But, you know what? They do look cool, so I figure that’s why they stuck with that look for Ben.

Okay, so Nicolas Cage just dropped a seriously surprising confession. He says there’s one actor he genuinely believes is better than him, and honestly? I never would have guessed who it was. It totally came out of left field! I’m a huge Cage fan, but it’s fascinating to hear him say that – and I’m dying to know who he meant!
Ben’s voice is difficult to describe – it sounds like someone who’s been screaming and is now struggling to talk. When he gets excited, it’s reminiscent of James Brown’s signature scream. But when he’s quieter, it can be hard to understand what he’s saying.
I don’t know if Gunslingers will revolutionize Westerns, but it’s a captivating film, largely thanks to Nicolas Cage’s performance as Ben – he seems to be improvising a lot, and it really works. I’ve always loved Cage’s over-the-top roles, but this might be his best one yet.
Some people might think I’m joking, and there’s a little truth to that. It is amusing to watch Nicolas Cage go wild in a fairly ordinary movie, but I genuinely admire his willingness to take risks and fully commit to his roles. He’s incredibly fearless, and that’s what makes him unique in Hollywood.
You might enjoy Gunslingers, and Netflix has a lot of new movies coming soon. They also have some other excellent films starring Nicolas Cage, so it’s worth taking a look!
