Niall Horan & Ed Sheeran End Rift After 11 Years: Ellie Goulding Fling Controversy Resolved?

As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that, indeed, the long-standing rift between me and my dear friend, Ed Sheeran, has been mended. On a vibrant Wednesday, I took to social media to shower him with heartfelt praise.

2014 saw Ed Sheeran suggesting a strained relationship with a former One Direction member, presumably Niall Horan, through his song “Don’t,” where he sings about an ex-girlfriend betraying him with one of his friends – a scenario commonly linked to Ellie Goulding.

However, it seems that the last ten years have aided in mending past hurts, as Sheeran, at 34 years old, has recently posted an old picture of himself and Horan on Instagram for his followers to see.

The picture is a component of an internet marketing effort for his recent single, “Old Phone”. In this campaign, the artist is sharing a series of vintage celebrity photographs from his personal collection with his followers.

After receiving the post, Horan, aged 31, subsequently uploaded the identical image on his personal Instagram account, expressing his feelings with a tender message: “I love you.

Ed Sheeran has shared old pictures featuring his former girlfriend Goulding, singers Usher and Bruno Mars, as well as a long-haired Harry Styles during his peak One Direction phase, on social media.

In 2013, the musician had a short-lived romance with Goulding, which was noticeable during the MTV Video Music Awards. However, the release of “Don’t” the following year added a new perspective to why their sudden breakup occurred.

Regarding the emotional essence of the tune, he expressed: “Once I penned the lyrics, my fury subsided. The song emerged when I required creative expression, and that’s where the story ends.

To be truthful, I’m thankful I was able to create a tune from the experience. Personally, I no longer see it as belonging to someone else; I’ve let go of any attachment to it.

The song, reaching number eight on the UK singles chart, contains the following lines: “I didn’t view him as a danger until you vanished with him for intimacy,” and “I believe that if I display politeness and regard towards someone, I should be met with the same in return.

In the year 2023, nine years following its debut, Ellie Goulding responded to allegations of a romantic involvement on TikTok when a fan commented: “I can’t believe you were unfaithful to Ed with Niall, but keep shining.

Responding to the comment, she wrote: ‘False!!!! But also slay’.

Sheeran drew inspiration for his latest composition while going through his old phone, a process prompted by the copyright dispute involving his popular hit, Thinking Out Loud.

Initially, he refused accusations of plagiarizing Marvin Gaye’s iconic soul song “Let’s Get it On” for his 2014 track. Later on, in 2023, a court ruled in his favor, exonerating him from the charges.

In his explanation, Sheeran stated: “Give it a try with the audio. Since 2015, I’ve abandoned my smartphone and switched to emails exclusively. Come December ’15, I simply shut off my phone, and that was the end of it.

Upon being taken to court, the judge instructed me to hand over my previous electronic devices to the opposing counsel for a thorough examination of messages, emails, voice memos, videos, and similar data. This was done in an attempt to discover any evidence beneficial to their case. Incidentally, I turned on my old phone during this process.

Here are the messages I received:

1. My old friend Jamal Edwards, who sadly had passed away, sent the first message.
2. The second message came from an ex-girlfriend with whom I’ve been out of touch for years.
3. A family member I haven’t spoken to in a decade was the sender of the third message.
4. And so on…

Sheeran confessed that scrolling through his phone brought on emotions due to several factors, one being finding photos of friends who had sadly passed away.

He expressed: “Using it felt like stepping into a time capsule, reliving the period of my life when I was active in 2015. As soon as I turned it on, I was swept away, finding myself reading old messages and conversations with individuals who are no longer with us.

Reflecting on my messages from departed friends, I unexpectedly felt tears well up, realizing that our conversations cannot be rekindled anymore. Sifting through old pictures, I encountered faces of individuals who were once deeply connected to me, but with time, our bond seems to have faded.

He noted: “The entire experience felt like a deeply emotional voyage. I composed the tune titled ‘Old Phone’ all by myself, late at night when battling jet lag in India, as I was wrapping up the album, and went ahead to record it that very morning.

This tune seems as if it belonged on my first album, yet its creation is something I couldn’t have accomplished until I went through genuine life events myself.
