Neytiri Returns in Avatar: Fire and Ash Sneak Peek
The Sully family faces a series of challenges in their quest for recovery following the heartrending incidents depicted in “The Way of Water“. A fresh glimpse from the upcoming third installment of “Avatar” reveals Neytiri, portrayed by Zoë Saldaña, ready to take great risks to safeguard her loved ones.
In the latest sneak peek for the upcoming film titled “Fire and Ash,” we catch a glimpse of Neytiri engaged in combat on Pandora, brandishing a bow and arrow. The intense expression on her face suggests she is overcome with rage, a feeling born from the grief shared by her and her partner, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), following the tragic death of their son, Neteyam, during the Na’vi’s decisive battle against the RDA. Zoe Saldaña has revealed that this upcoming movie will delve deeper into Neytiri’s anguish over her loss. “That pain is not just shown but also felt throughout the story,” she said. “As it has no resolution, anger can manifest from it. The Sully family will be put to the test.
Saldaña suggests that Neteyam’s death may lead Neytiri to doubt and scrutinize various aspects of her life, including her relationship with Jake, their family ties, her identity as a Na’vi, her connection to her homeland, and the Na’vi way of life. She predicts that Neytiri will be challenged to accept this new reality and grapple with these questions.
In the penultimate “Avatar” movie titled “Fire and Ash,” the story shifts from Pandora to Earth, where the Sully family persists in their fight against the RDA. They also encounter a new character played by Oona Chaplin. Zoe Saldana suggests that Neytiri will face her equal in the formidable leader of the Ash Clan, who has differing views on some Na’vi traditions. Director James Cameron implies that this film will depict the family grappling with Neteyam’s death and staying united, deviating from how such themes are usually handled in Hollywood. The movie titled “Fire and Ash” is currently in its final stages of post-production, with director James Cameron working diligently in New Zealand to complete it. In a recent update, Cameron hinted at the intensity of the film, while also expressing that it will be an emotional journey for viewers. Moreover, Disney CEO Bob Iger has highlighted the significant impact of “Fire and Ash” as well.
Avatar: Fire and Ash Continues the Story
In addition to Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch, Sigourney Weaver as Kiri, Kate Winslet as Ronal, and Britain Dalton as Lo’ak, the movie Fire and Ash continues the success of the first two Avatar films, two of the three highest-earning movies ever made. As confirmed by Cameron, this new film will run for approximately 3 hours and 12 minutes.
Fire and Ash opens in theaters on Dec. 19.
