Next installment of Creep franchise to debut this November exclusively on Shudder

As a long-time fan of the original “Creep” films, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming Shudder series, “The Creep Tapes.” Having grown up on these found-footage horror gems, I’ve always been fascinated by the enigmatic character of Peachfuzz and his twisted antics.

In the forthcoming spinoff series titled “The Creep Tapes“, which will air on Shudder this fall, Mark Duplass reprises his role as Peachfuzz.

Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice, along with the show itself, have announced that it will start airing from Friday, November 15th. From this date forward, those who subscribe to Shudder and AMC+ can catch the first two episodes of the six-episode series. Following a double debut, new episodes will be made available on both platforms every week thereafter.

According to the press statement, the upcoming series titled “The Creep Tapes” is expected to maintain a similar structure as the movies “Creep” and “Creep 2“. In each installment, Peachfuzz tricks a videographer into visiting his house by promising a day-in-the-life documentary. However, as events unfold, it becomes clear that he harbors a much darker plan.

The Shudder series will carry on its exploration into the twisted psyche of a reclusive serial killer, who has a habit of placing suspicious job postings on online forums to lure unwitting movie producers seeking their next project opportunity.

Although the films are engaging, they don’t delve deep into Peachfuzz’s character or motivations, which adds to his enigmatic and eerie persona. I’m cautiously optimistic that the series won’t drastically alter the format, but it would be intriguing to uncover some insights into his thought processes. I have faith in Duplass and Brice to concoct something creatively captivating.

Concerning the latest series, Duplass reflects on the modest beginnings of ‘Creep’ and its unique found-footage horror genre that turned out to be “remarkably bizarre and awkward,” leading them to believe it would never be released. However, more than a decade has passed, and they now have the opportunity to carry on their legacy in a fresh and captivating manner.

To be continuing this unholy legacy in the series format is a true nightmare come true.
