New Yord and Jecki book, Outlaws artbook, and more at SDCC 2024

As a hardcore Star Wars fan and avid gamer, I couldn’t contain my excitement as I sat down for the highly anticipated Star Wars: Stories from a Galaxy Far, Far Away panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024. The anticipation was palpable in the air, and the energy in the room was electric.

The Star Wars: Stories from a Galaxy Far, Far Away panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 brought exciting updates from Lucasfilm! During the first part of the event, we learned about the upcoming open-world video game, Star Wars Outlaws. In contrast, the second half of the panel focused solely on the latest publishing developments, with a strong emphasis on The High Republic era.

Here are all the announcements you might have missed!

The Art of Star Wars Outlaws

Similar to previous Star Wars video games, Star Wars Outlaws will soon have an artbook released by Dark Horse comics. A sneak peek of some artwork was shared on the Stardust Records podcast’s Twitter account, and you can find more, including the cover, at StarWars.com.

New books for The Acolyte

I’m thrilled to share some exciting news as a dedicated fan! Following the release of the newest Star Wars series, several books for “The Aoclyte” were announced. The first one that caught my attention is an adult novel titled “Wayseeker” by Justina Ireland. This captivating story revolves around the character Vernestra Rwoh and is set approximately 20 years before the series begins.

An alternate rendition: There’s an upcoming YA novel titled as yet, featuring Jecki Lon and Yord Fandar. This announcement is certain to excite both the Yord Horde and Jecki Jam fan bases! Following episode 5, “Night,” it’s delightful to learn that we’ll get more tales about these beloved characters. Tessa Gratton is set to write this book, with a planned publication in July 2025. Jess from RuPalp’s Podrace and For Light and Dice podcasts shared an exclusive cover sneak peek on Twitter.

It’s Kelnacca time!

As a huge Star Wars fan, I’m thrilled to share that despite some initial setbacks for the first live-action Wookiee Jedi Master, Kelnacca is now receiving the recognition he deserves in the publishing world. New details have emerged about his upcoming one-shot comic, titled Star Wars: Kelnacca, set to release in September. In this story, we’ll see Kelnacca training his as-yet-unnamed padawan, and the dynamic duo will be joined by fan-favorite High Republic Jedi Master Elzar Mann. The comic is penned by the talented Cavan Scott, and Stardust Records recently gave us a sneak peek of Kelnacca’s appearance in this exciting new adventure!

As a gamer, I’m excited to share that Cavan Scott and I, Kelnacca the Wookiee, aren’t done making waves just yet. In the thrilling world of Star Wars: The High Republic, we’ll be teaming up with Master Keeve Trennis for another action-packed comic series. Mark your calendars for February 2025 as this epic journey continues!
