New Wonder Woman movie gets promising update from DC’s James Gunn

DC boss James Gunn has given an exciting update on the next incarnation of Wonder Woman.

As a passionate gamer speaking in 2025, I can’t help but share some exciting news that came up during Warner Bros. Discovery’s meeting with investors last month. The CEO, David Zaslav, revealed an intriguing 10-year plan for DC, masterminded by Gunn and Peter Safran. And guess who made the cut as major players in this grand scheme? None other than Wonder Woman herself, alongside heavyweights like Superman, Batman, and even Supergirl! Now that’s a lineup I can’t wait to see unfold!

Currently, Gunn has openly shared with Entertainment Weekly that a Wonder Woman film is under production.

James Gunn stated that “Wonder Woman” is a unique case, somewhat slow-paced, but it’s progressing. We are currently working on “Wonder Woman“. The script for “Wonder Woman” is being written at this moment.

Gunn hasn’t selected a new actress to play Wonder Woman yet, since she was previously played by Gal Gadot.)

Regarding Zaslav’s emphasis on the four fundamental aspects of DC, Gunn commented, “Yes, I believe he’s spot-on with that.

He seems to have picked up that idea from something I mentioned earlier. While I wouldn’t limit it to just those four letters, I can certainly emphasize that they carry significant importance for us, he concluded.

At this moment, I am quite satisfied with the progress of two of those characters, while we’re handling the challenges posed by the remaining two.

In the year 2023, it was revealed by Gunn that a prequel series for Wonder Woman, named Paradise Lost, was being developed. However, since then, there hasn’t been much new information shared about it.

At the time it was revealed, Gunn stated that it was similar to “Game of Thrones,” but instead of Westeros, it features all the residents of Paradise Island.

This narrative provides insights into the founding and structure of a female-led society. It delves into their governance, social norms, leadership, and internal dynamics, specifically, how they compete for positions of power within their ranks.

In the meantime, the upcoming DC film set for release in theaters is “Superman,” due out next month. This movie features David Corenswet portraying both Clark Kent and Superman, as he struggles to balance his extraterrestrial lineage with his adopted human family.

In this new take, Nicholas Hoult assumes the role of the antagonist Lex Luthor, while Rachel Brosnahan from ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ portrays Lois Lane.

Superman opens in cinemas on 11 July.
