New UK legal drama will see Sherwood star’s character “risk everything” to expose truth
Sherwood star David Harewood has been cast in upcoming legal thriller Pierre on Channel 4.
In the main character role, Harewood portrays a West London legal aid lawyer who is both charismatic and amusing, yet faces financial hardships due to his humble and underappreciated line of work.
Pierre faces a tough trial as he starts probing into the questionable demise of his young African-American client, Michael. As the lawyer confronts the police’s depiction of Michael as a lawbreaker, he finds himself ensnared in a network of deceit and misconduct.
As a dedicated gamer diving headfirst into this virtual world, I’m prepared to jeopardize my gaming career and personal life as I pledge to uncover hidden truths. Each exhilarating episode will take us through unique legal battles, offering an immersive exploration of justice in action.
I’m thrilled beyond words to play the main character in ‘Pierre‘! This role is richly drawn and masterfully created by writers John Donnelly and Roy Williams, and I eagerly anticipate stepping into his world.
He’s intelligent yet imperfect, and he pours his heart into his work. I truly hope readers grow to admire him as much as I do when they encounter him in print.
Donnelly and Williams noted that duty solicitors are often unrecognized champions within the legal field. Despite being overworked and undercompensated, they are always on call, never knowing what challenges or cases await them. They have countless tales to share, and it’s exciting to hear them recount their experiences.
The six-part drama was commissioned for Channel 4 and will air at a later date.
Ollie Madden, the director of Film4 and Channel 4 Drama, highly commended the “compelling, truthful narrative” of the upcoming series. Meanwhile, executive producer Hilary Salmon anticipates that “Pierre” will offer an engaging experience with a beloved character at its core, along with thought-provoking themes woven into its essence.
